"Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility," his rep says in a statement. "His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point."
The Grammy-winning R&B singer, 24, and his bodyguard Christopher Hollosy were released without bail from a Washington, D.C., jail Monday after a felony assault charge was reduced to a misdemeanor.
They had been arrested early Sunday morning following an altercation with another man outside the W Hotel. The man was treated at the hospital and released. Brown's attorney denied the singer committed a crime.
Brown had two events scheduled at 1 OAK in Las Vegas – a Halloween party on Nov. 1 as well as a New Year's Eve bash – but both have been canceled.
Brown's sentence for the 2009 incident involving Rihanna also included community service and a yearlong domestic violence course.
