"It's going to be two parts," she told PEOPLE at the People's Choice Awards nominations announcement last week. "We're both from Atlanta and we have so many family and friends … it's going to be hard to get everybody in one place, so we're going to do a celebration part and a wedding."
Though she expects the engagement to be a short one, the Grammy winner, 28, is still making sure every little detail is picture perfect on her big day.
"I think I'll be part bridezilla, I'm not going to lie," she said. "But I want to be a happy one! I still want it to be a fun process, but I want the dress to be perfect, I want the cake to be perfect, I want the food to be perfect."
And staying true to her signature style of curve-hugging dresses, she is "definitely" planning to wear a form-fitting gown – but with a traditional twist.
"I want to go a little vintage, a little throwback classic almost like my mom was walking down the aisle," she said.
So where has the blushing bride-to-be been finding inspiration for the big day?
"I watched NeNe [Leakes]'s wedding and that was the funniest," she said. " I watch any wedding show … and start thinking about how I want to plan things. I'm looking at it with a whole new perspective like, 'How do I want to do this?' And 'Who are going to be my bridesmaids?' "
Turns out Ciara's future husband, 29, is just as detail-oriented, but he is letting her take the reigns when it comes to planning.
"He gets to have his say and then he lets me go off and do my thing," she said. "I know he's going to want the fun part to be right. We're both looking forward to it."
