Can Lady Gaga Change the Way Best New Artist Grammy Is Chosen?

Originally posted 12/01/2009 04:50PM

With only one day left before nominees are announced for the 52nd annual Grammy Awards, the industry is buzzing about who’ll make the cut – and why one of the year's biggest hitmakers is ineligible.

Lady Gaga sold more than 1.5 million copies of The Fame, but the costumed diva won’t be recognized in the Best New Artist category due to her nomination in the Best Dance Recording category for "Just Dance" last year. However, we’ll most likely see her in the Album, Record or Song of the year categories.

Gaga’s exclusion mirrors last year’s snub of Jennifer Hudson in the same category due to her 2007 nomination in the Outstanding Motion Picture Soundtrack Compilation category for Dreamgirls.

That Jennifer Lopez honeymoon tape just went from Rated X to PG.

"There wasn't anything close to sex in it," Lopez's attorney John Lavely tells PEOPLE. "We never alleged that. But it's still private and personal to my client."

A Los Angeles judge agreed Tuesday, upholding a ruling that Lopez's ex, Ojani Noa, is forbidden from using 11-plus hours of home video – 20 percent of which allegedly features Lopez – for a mockumentary about his life as a Cuban immigrant, previously titled How I Married Jennifer Lopez: The JLo and Ojani Noa Story.

No Criminal Charges to Be Filed Against Tiger Woods

No Criminal Charges to Be Filed Against Tiger Woods

Originally posted 12/01/2009 03:10PM

Florida authorities are closing the car accident case on Tiger Woods, and will not do more than issue a minor traffic ticket with a possible $164 fine to the golfer.

"The investigation has concluded that Mr. Woods is at fault in the crash," a Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman said Tuesday afternoon at a press conference, saying that they found that Woods, 33, had not driven in a "careful and prudent manner" when he was hurt in a one-car crash outside his Orlando home.

In addition to the fine, the careless-driving citation could give Woods four points on his driver's license, if he is found guilty. There will be no criminal charges, and the case is closed, the spokeswoman said.

Marc Mezvinsky has an impressive fan in his future father-in-law, former President Bill Clinton, who says he is "very" excited about the engagement of his daughter Chelsea to the investment banker.

"He is great. He is a great human being," the former president said Tuesday as he left a panel discussion at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, where his daughter is a graduate student. The gathering was designed to draw attention to World AIDS Day.

As for Mezvinsky, "Bill adores him. This is the son he didn't have," says a source close to the Clintons. "This is the relationship Bill didn't have with his father."

Twilight Finale May Be Split Into Two

Moviegoers who think that the Twilight saga will be dead and buried after the third installation, Eclipse, had better think again: Summit Entertainment may release not just one but two movies based on the fourth novel in the series.

The film company is considering turning Breaking Dawn into a two-part finale to the movie series, Variety reports.

Of course, there are complications to such a move. First off, screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote the first three movies' scripts, hasn't begun writing. Second, director Chris Weitz, who filmed New Moon, has said he wants to quit the movie business after finishing a pet project, The Gardener.
