Justin Timberlake was the biggest snub and Sara Bareilles was the biggest surprise in the top categories of the nominees for the 56th annual Grammy Awards, which were announced Friday night in conjunction with a concert special televised from Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
Timberlake was expected to make the cut for album of the year for his hit comeback The 20/20 Experience, and was also a likely contender for both record and song of the year for "Mirrors," but was shut out of all of those categories.
Perhaps Timberlake's decision to release a second part of The 20/20 Experience in September backfired on him. With both installments counting as one album, he might have diluted the strength of the first half with the voters.

After revealing to the world on Friday that she is fighting a rare cancer, Jen Arnold of TLC's The Little Couple has a strong supporter by her side who is ready to fight along with her: husband Bill Klein.

Arnold, 39, a neonatologist at Texas Children's Hospital, and Klein, 38, an entrepreneur and owner of Rocky and Maggie's, a pet accessories store in Houston, recently became parents to two children with dwarfism: son Will, 3, and daughter Zoey, 2.

If you've ever wished Disney movies were real, then this is the story for you.
Tinni is a dog and Sniffer is a fox, and together, they're best friends. Much like the characters in the beloved animated film The Fox and the Hound, the pair have forged an unlikely friendship, which began when photographer Torgeir Berge and dog Tinni met the fox one day in the woods of Norway.
Berge's observation of the pair led him to realize "how similar foxes and dogs actually are," and inspired a book of adorable snapshots of the twosome frolicking outdoors, reports the Daily Mail.

A few years ago, millions of viewers anxiously tuned in to catch an infamous MTV screaming match at then-Hollywood hot spot Les Deux that forever changed the relationship between best friends – and The Hills reality starlets – Lauren Conrad and Heidi Pratt.
Fast-forward to the present, Heidi (née Montag), 27, says the night that made "You know what you did" a household phrase is now water under the bridge.
"I've talked to [Lauren] a few times on the phone and we've caught up," Heidi told PEOPLE on Friday. "She's been really sweet. The last time we talked was like a year ago. I lost her number so I haven't been able to call her [recently]. I told her I got really caught up and I was sorry about how things happened. I told her I miss her and she told me she'd always be there for me."
