Katherine Heigl has a message for all the balls out there: She's out to get you.
It's been a busy fall for the actress, who only last month launched a new pet adoption initiative through her Jason Debus Heigl Foundation.
And now the ardent animal advocate is at it again, kicking off the I Hate Balls campaign, which aims to lessen the population of shelter animals by encouraging owners to neuter/spay their pets.

Getting 5,000 animals adopted in one month? Bring it on, says Katherine Heigl.
The actress and animal advocate has never shied away from helping pets in need, and now she's taking that enthusiasm one step further with a challenge.
"Super proud and excited to announce the Fall 5000 program," she Tweeted on Friday, sharing news about a new pet adoption initiative led by the Los Angeles Animal Alliance and the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, which honors her late brother.
"Hoping to get at least 5000 animals adopted this month from LA city and county shelters!" she continued. "Encourage people to go to their local shelters and adopt!"

It was a perfect day for Perfect Couples star David Walton and actress Majandra Delfino: The pair tied the knot on March 18 in Miami.
Delfino's former Roswell costar, Katherine Heigl, served as a bridesmaid, and guests included Heigl's husband Josh Kelley, as well as Walton's costar Hayes MacArthur and wife Ali Larter, PEOPLE confirms exclusively.
The ceremony took place at Trinity Cathedral, the oldest church in Miami, and the reception was held at The Surf Club ballroom, one of Miami's oldest private beach clubs – and one with a special meaning for Delfino. She had her debutant ball there at 19.

According to onlookers, the couple was sitting side by side and looked "very cozy together. It was obvious they were romantically together." The two ordered off the menu and stayed for a few hours, enjoying the late night dinner while Sheen's castmates like Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz ate at the sushi bar in a group.

All Katherine Heigl wanted was a romantic hot tub date with her hubby Josh Kelley. Instead, the actress ended up on a bikini-clad date with the cops.
"It was just the two of us," Heigl, 31, told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM morning show Thursday. "It was like 8:30, 9 o'clock at night. [Josh] has been gone, he's been on tour. He's only home for three days ... We were totally just hanging out and making out in the hot tub – and by the way, it was so PG."
So what went wrong for the couple's night in? "This [neighbor] guy is always screaming at us," Heigl explains. "He starts screaming at us to go inside, and I'm like, 'I've had it. I've had enough of this. This is ridiculous. It's harassment, and I'm calling the police.' "

Josh Duhamel has locked lips on screen with Katie Holmes, Katherine Heigl and now, in a way, musician Josh Kelley.
"Personally, I'm a big fan of Katherine's husband, Josh Kelley, so kissing her in Life As We Know It was like indirectly getting to make out with him, " Duhamel, 37, tells Parade magazine, before adding: "Just kidding."
But Kelley wasn't crazy about watching his wife film a love scene.
"Josh didn't come around to the set during our big lip-lock," said Duhamel, "Katherine says he's never there when she has to do a make-out scene."

How Katherine Heigl Is Quitting Smoking

Katherine Heigl is finally letting go of her biggest bad habit.
To set a good example for her 20 month-old daughter, Naleigh, she is going to quit smoking. But the process hasn't been easy – so she's resorting to interesting ways of curbing her cravings.
"Now I use an electronic cigarette. I know it's ridiculous, but it's helping me not to actually smoke real cigarettes," the actress tells Parade.com. "I've been doing it for six months. Smoking sucks!"
She adds: "The one thing I would say to my kid is, 'It's not just that it's bad for you. Do you want to spend the rest of your life fighting a stupid addiction to a stupid thing that doesn't even really give you a good buzz?' "

Talk about a bad date: Before she married singer Josh Kelley nearly three years ago, Katherine Heigl says she endured a string of nightmare encounters that still makes her cringe. Meanwhile, dating just plain scared her screen costar, Josh Duhamel.
Speaking at Saturday's press conference in New York for their romantic comedy opening Oct. 8, Life As We Know It, the Grey's Anatomy Emmy winner, 31, says her worst date was with her personal trainer, when she was 18.
"I was like, 20 lbs. heavier and trying real hard to work it off at the gym and my trainer asked me out," the actress recalled. "He took me to Sizzler and gave me his head shot and asked me if I could get him in my agency. I knew it wasn't the extra 20 lbs. that turned him on!"
