Henry Cavill: How Brutal Exercise and Diet Made Him the Man of Steel
Originally posted 06/14/2013 10:20AM
You don't become Superman overnight.
"It's a very, very long and involved process," Henry Cavill told PEOPLE at Monday's Man of Steel premiere in New York – the movie opened nationwide Friday – about his exhausting physical transformation from human to superhuman.
It went in stages. And all of them were painful.
"Five months before shooting there was varying stuff which ended up being mass building and then leaning down," said the actor, 30. "Throughout the shoot it was just waking up and making sure I got an hour in [of exercise] before I went to work."

Melissa McCarthy has won over audiences with her comedic performances and warm Midwestern charm, but the Oscar-nominated actress admits that a scathing film review earlier this year that referred to her as "tractor-sized," could have a negative impact on young girls who might not conform to the traditional definition of Hollywood beauty.
In an new interview with The New York Times, McCarthy spoke out for the first time about the criticism, saying her initial reaction was "Really?" followed by, "Why would someone O.K. that?"

Nutritionist and Trainer Harley Pasternak Talks High Caloric Price of Eating Out

How many calories are in these dishes? (The answers are at the end of the article.)
Panera Bread: Sierra Turkey sandwich
Cheesecake Factory: Chicken costoletta
Cheesecake Factory: Bistro shrimp pasta
Olive Garden: Chicken and shrimp carbonara
Chili's: Chili Cheese Fries
Dunkin Donuts: Coffee Coolata
Last week my wife Jessica and I went out for dinner to a well know national chain restaurant. Jess had a salad with grilled chicken and I had a small vegetable soup and a shrimp stir fry. Feeling good about our orders, we decided to peruse the nutritional info on the menu as we waited for our meals to arrive.
We were flabbergasted when we realized we were about to eat two and a half times the calories we had expected to eat. My "healthy" stir-fry had nearly 1,100 calories and my Jess's "light" salad was a whopping 900 calories!
Needless to say, we, like many Americans, grossly underestimated the caloric value of our meals.

Country's finest are showing off a little skin – and a lot of charm.
"I hate looking at pictures of myself!" Tim McGraw insists. But one glimpse at the 46-year-old singer's ripped abs, which are featured in the new Hot Guys issue of PEOPLE Country, and we'll respectfully disagree.
Equally compelling eye candy? Fellow country stars Jake Owen, 31, and Kip Moore, 33, who also go shirtless in the new issue. But, as Owen explains, that buff beauty is more than skin deep.

Originally posted 05/29/2013 04:00PM
MTV Europe just released its list of the 15 best butts in Hollywood. Whether you agree with the selections – or the fact that this list actually exists – is up to you. Regardless, it has definitely stirred up many opinions.
From Nicki Minaj to Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez to Jessica Biel, the star backsides take many different shapes and sizes.
Not surprisingly, this is the area my clients tend to focus on most. It’s one part you really can't fake. Sure, you can wear those ridiculous padded underwear, but the truth is you're probably not fooling anyone but yourself – especially in a bikini.

Everyone seems to be weighing in on Katherine Webb's diet.
The former Miss Alabama Katherine Webb – whose looks made headlines this winter – shared her daily diet exclusively with PEOPLE in this week's issue, which includes her caloric intake.
The 5'11" model revealed that she eats only about 1,120 calories a day (an average menu: homemade smoothie for breakfast, green apple for snack, spinach salad with almonds and strawberries for lunch, frozen yogurt bar for snack and grilled chicken fingers with sweet potato fries for dinner). Christian Bale Is Bigger, Bald – and Barely Recognizable: PHOTO
Originally posted 05/22/2013 10:20AM
Batman, he ain't.
Christian Bale continues to be quite the physical chameleon. Seen walking through the airport in Los Angeles, Bale, 39 and nearly unrecognizable yet again, now sports a shaved head and retains some of the girth he has displayed in recent months – all for a new role, as a '70s con man turned FBI worker, in his latest film, American Hustle, about the ABSCAM sting.
His pale and paunchy look, with a groomed goatee and mustache, stands in stark contrast to his emaciated form in The Machinist, for which he subsisted on a diet of apples, cigarettes and coffee to shave 63 pounds, a third of his usual weight.
