ABC is apologizing for a segment of Jimmy Kimmel Live in which a child joked about killing Chinese people to help erase the U.S. debt.
The boy's unscripted comment came during a comedy bit in which youngsters commented on news events. The skit, aimed at poking fun at childish politicians, aired last week on Kimmel's late-night talk show.
ABC's apology came in response to a complaint from a group called 80-20 that identifies itself as a pan-Asian-American political organization.
In an Oct. 25 letter to the group, ABC said it would never purposefully do anything to upset the Chinese, Asian or other communities. The network says the skit will be edited out of the Jimmy Kimmel Live episode for future airings or any other distribution, including online.

Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel quickly dispelled the idea their so-called rap feud was a publicity stunt during a sometimes uncomfortable appearance on the comedian's TV show.
Speculation that the rapper's anger over a Jimmy Kimmel Live parody skit that mocked him was staged was immediate after West lashed out at Kimmel in late September.
But both said that their beef was authentic during a 30-minute interview on Wednesday night's show in which West discussed a range of topics including his artistry, paparazzi, family, fashion and the idea of celebrity.
Kimmel said early in the interview that he knows West personally and always found him friendly, but that he seems misunderstood.

The feuding between Sinéad O'Connor and Miley Cyrus seemingly can't stop.
The "We Can't Stop" singer, 20, was the subject of a fourth open letter by O'Connor, 46, who on Tuesday went on an approximate 30-paragraph rant, which mostly listed suicide statistics.
"As a result of what you did, I have had numerous communications from people urging me to commit suicide," the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer wrote. "Not to mention, I have been the subject of literally thousands of abusive articles and or comments left after articles, which state that I and therefore all perceived mentally ill people, should be bullied and be invalidated."

Could Frank Sinatra actually be the biological father of Mia Farrow's handsome son Ronan – whose father was always said to be Woody Allen?
Although no DNA tests were ever done, Ronan, a 25-year-old former Rhodes scholar who bears a striking resemblance to Ol' Blue Eyes, remains close to the late crooner's family, as does Farrow, Vanity Fair reports in its November issue, in an interview with the actress.
Farrow, 68, who was married to Sinatra from 1966 to 1968, admittedly continued a relationship with the music legend while she was involved in a longtime relationship with filmmaker Allen.
Sinatra, who died in 1998, would have been about 72 when Ronan, born in 1987, was conceived.
Asked point blank by Vanity Fair's Maureen Orth whether Ronan could be Sinatra's son, Farrow responds with one word: "Possibly."

Apparently, imitation wasn't the sincerest form of flattery for Kanye West.
In a colossal Twitter rant posted Thursday, the rapper blasted Jimmy Kimmel after the funnyman ran a video spoof on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this week that ribbed West's recent BBC interview, in which he boasted that he's "the No. 1 rock star on the planet."
But the parody sketch left West anything but amused, as was made evident in his litany of scathing Tweets.

Lamar Odom has broken his silence.
After weeks of being shadowed by reports of infidelity, drug abuse and marital woes, the husband of reality star Khloé Kardashian took to Twitter on Tuesday to speak out against his father, Joe Odom, who blamed his daughter-in-law and her family for his son's troubles in an interview.
"He wasn't there 2 raise me," Odom, 33, wrote on his Twitter page. "That man wasn't even invited to my wedding. He has never met my mother in law and some of my other family. How can a man who has NOT once called me to check on my well being have the nerve to talk so recklessly about his own 'son.' "
