Avril Lavigne apparently is as affected as much as anybody by the downturn in the housing market.

After two deals fell through, reports Forbes.com, the rocker, 23, has marked down the price for her Beverly Hills mansion, to $5.8 million.

The original price tag a year ago was $6.9 million.

The home is inside a gated community at the top of Mulholland in the Hollywood Hills, with a pool and tennis court on the grounds.

The TV host's new pad is a New England style six-bedroom home in a gated compound. The master suit includes a sitting room, balcony and two bathrooms, the paper says.

Other amenities at the 44-year-old star's new home include a screening room, expansive views, a 1,500-bottle wine room, a pool, spa, library, 10-foot ceilings and six fireplaces.

Courtney Love Eyes NYC Digs

Courtney Love may be looking to buy a home in the Big Apple, according to her MySpace blog.

"I think/hope we found the PERFECT PLACE," Love wrote Wednesday in an online entry rife with spelling errors.

The Hole singer is eyeing a four-story West Village home, which she says is "a great investment."

Love says two floors of the building are currently being rented by the owners, but she'd eventually like to make it into a single-family home again. "It'll cost … a lot … to return it to a house, but FBC (Love's 15-year-old daughter, Frances Bean) doesn't need to have all that space 'til she moves here at 18."

It's not clear from the blog entry if Love, who currently splits her time between L.A. and London, plans to live in the home as well.

Richard Gere Pretty in Pink in New York's West Village

Originally posted 10/19/2007 10:45AM

Richard Gere is shelling out the green to move into artist Julian Schnabel's big red condominium building in New York's West Village. Gere's exact purchase price for the apartment was undisclosed, says the Wall Street Journal, but a similar unit in the building went for $15.5 million last month.

In building his colorful nine-story addition above what used to be a horse stable, Schnabel, the artist and film director (most recently of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), has ruffled some feathers, with some neighbors derisively calling the structure the "pink building."
