Will Casey Aldridge Serve Prison Time?

He's out of the hospital, but Casey Aldridge must now deal with the legal implications of his recent truck crash.

Alridge, 20, better known as Jamie Lynn Spears's boyfriend and the father of their baby daughter, 10-month-old Maddie, was charged with careless operation of a motor vehicle, a violation of Louisiana Revised Statue 32:58 after he drove off a road into a ditch and flipped his F-250 pickup truck on April 26.

According to Louisiana criminal attorney Lester Gauthier, who is not involved with the case, Aldridge will face a fine of no more than $175 and/or imprisonment for not more than 30 days.

Casey Aldridge Walks for First Time Since Car Wreck

Casey Aldridge has been released from intensive care and is walking around for the first time since suffering a head injury in a car accident on Sunday.

"He came out of ICU," a source tells PEOPLE, adding that doctors are hopeful they'll soon be able to discharge Aldridge – the father of Jamie Lynn Spears's 10-month-old daughter Maddie – from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Miss.

Aldridge, who turned 20 on Wednesday, was up "walking around twice [on Tuesday]," says a source close to the family. "He was a little wobbly because that's the first time he's been up since the wreck."

Casey Aldridge Hospitalized After Car Accident

Casey Aldridge, the father of Jamie Lynn Spears's 10-month-old daughter Maddie, was injured in a car accident early Sunday morning. Police have charged him with careless operation of a vehicle, which is a misdemeanor.

Spears, 18, as well as Aldridge's family – including his mother, father and sister – are at Casey's side where he is hospitalized at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, according to sources. Staff at the hospital would not confirm Aldridge is undergoing treatment there.

A family source tells PEOPLE Aldridge is fully alert, resting and talking to friends and family. "The doctors are pretty positive he's going to be okay," the source says. "He should recover fully. Of course you never know, but they're not expecting him to get any worse."

Lynne Spears: 'Things Are Looking Up Again'

After a year of upheaval for her family, Lynne Spears exclusively tells PEOPLE.com that she's cherishing the "small things" like taking Britney's sons Preston, 3, and Jayden, 2, for a spin in her golf cart and planning a shopping trip with Jamie Lynn because 3-month-old Maddie is "growing out of all her clothes."

"Really wonderful things are happening now," Spears, 53, said Saturday. "It looks like things are looking up again."

PEOPLE caught up with Spears at the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) 20th annual convention in Grapevine, Texas, where she was a surprise guest speaker. She shared with the crowd of 4,500 mothers what it's like to face criticism for the way she raised Britney, 26, and Jamie Lynn, 17.

"I had a perfect little plan," she said, explaining the parenting journey chronicled in her memoir, Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World. "But, you can't control the [kids]' peers, you can't control society and you do the best you can."
