The superstar was surrounded by an entourage of 15, including sister Solange. According to a clubgoer, the sisters playfully snapped pictures of each other, while Beyoncé was more coy with her husband. They costar in the new film Cadillac Records, but Gabrielle Union and Beyoncé go way back.

"I've known her since she was a teenager!" Union told PEOPLE at Ideal Bite's "Best in Green" Awards on Thursday. "It's been nice to see that her music and her lifestyle choices and her acting choices have all evolved as she's gotten older."

Most notably? The development of Beyoncé's stage persona, Sasha Fierce.

"Beyoncé is quiet and reserved, very Southern, sweet and polite," Union said. "If someone told me that girl was gonna go on stage and do the kind of performances that she does, and be so fiery, and this quintessential and iconic entertainer, I'd be [in disbelief], like, 'Yeah, okay!' "

Marriage for Beyoncé and Jay-Z can be a "power struggle," according to the singer – especially when both superstars have their own careers and millions of dollars.

"If I didn't respect someone and they didn't have that strength, then I would be bored," the 27-year-old tells Elle in its December issue. "I wouldn't be attracted to them."

The couple, who secretly wed in April, topped Forbes' list of richest couples this year with an estimated worth of $162 million.

• Beyoncé, celebrating after the premiere of her new film Cadillac Records with her husband Jay-Z. The couple attended the film's official afterparty at Marquee in New York, where fellow revelers took over the backroom. Beyoncé stood in deep conversation with her hubby, but was happily interrupted by well-wishers who came over to offer their congratulations. She also got into the music a little, dancing in her seat – in this case, the top of a banquette – to songs like "Respect" and "I'm Every Woman," while chewing gum and sipping on some white wine. Meanwhile, her costar Adrien Brody was busy grinding to the tunes with girlfriend Elsa Pataky. Also at the party: Diddy, who drank the evening's signature gin cocktail, the Bombay Sapphire Cadillac.

Beyoncé Knowles says married life is "great" – but she's still in no rush to have kids.

"One day, maybe," the singer – who wed rapper Jay-Z in a super-secret ceremony last April – tells Ellen DeGeneres during Tuesday's show.

What's holding her back? Watching her sister, Solange, give birth in 2004.

"I was there in the delivery room and it kind of traumatized me," Beyoncé admits. "I said please don't have me in the room. And she said, 'You have to. I'm your sister. Stop being so silly.' Well, I was right!"

Still, the Cadillac Records star says she definitely will have kids someday. "A couple, maybe."

Beyoncé: I Didn't Want to Marry Too Young

Originally posted 11/13/2008 06:10PM

Beyoncé, who has always been tight-lipped about her marriage to Jay-Z, is finally giving some insight into her thoughts about tying the knot.

"I was 18 when we first met, 19 when we first started dating. There was no rush," the singer tells Seventeen in its December/January issue, due out Nov. 18. "I really don't believe that you will love the same thing when you're 20 as you do at 30."

The singer, whose new album I Am … Shasha Fierce arrives Monday, says she wanted to have a strong sense of self before making a lifelong commitment to anyone.

"Before the age of 25, I would never get married," says the 27-year-old singer. "I feel like you have to get to know yourself, know what you want, spend some time by yourself, and be proud of who you are before you can share that with someone else."

Beyoncé Dishes on Her Sassy Alter-Ego

The pop diva born Beyoncé Giselle Knowles has another moniker — and a spicy persona to go along with it.

Meet Sasha Fierce! The former Destiny's Child member, who releases her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce on Nov. 18, said in a statement Tuesday, "I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am."

Her alter ego has far fewer inhibitions than Beyoncé Knowles herself, said the Grammy Award winner. "Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage."

Six months after marrying Jay-Z, Beyonce is at last revealing details about their top-secret wedding.

"What Jay and I have is real. It's not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It's real," the singer, 27, tells Essence magazine in its November issue.

Notoriously tight-lipped about her relationship with the hip-hop mogul, Beyoncé does share a little about her wedding day, but only after groaning, "You're gonna get me in trouble."

Beyoncé tells the magazine she didn't want an engagement ring because, "People put too much emphasis on that," she says. "It's just material and it's just silly to me."

Instead, the magazine reports, she wears a band on her ring finger over a tattoo of the Roman numeral IV (Beyoncé was born on Sept. 4; Jay-Z on Dec. 4; they were married on April 4). Jay-Z, 38, has a matching tattoo on his left-hand ring finger.

Jay-Z 'Dreams of Having a Family'

Originally posted 10/02/2008 08:35AM

Jay-Z was flying solo at the U.N.A. Global Leadership Awards Gala in New York Wednesday night. But even without wife Beyoncé Knowles by his side, he still happily chatted about his plans to start a family – eventually.

The rapper, who was being honored for his work to bring clean water to young people in Africa, has spent several weeks touring the continent.

But unlike Angelina Jolie and Madonna, it didn't inspire him to adopt. "No," the Grammy-winner (he got hitched in April) told PEOPLE. "I don't want to bring any kids home."

But Jay-Z does want babies of his own. "Most people dream of having a family someday," he told reporters. "So I'm just a regular American boy."
