The latest legal battle between Christie Brinkley and her ex-husband Peter Cook ended with a judge-approved settlement – but not before some last-minute drama inside the courtroom.
Judge Mark Cohen refused to accept the agreement between the supermodel and the architect until Brinkley appeared in court, which she did two hours later. "I'm pleased that this could be handled without a long trial,” said Cohen.
Still, the once picture-perfect couple couldn't resist trading insults outside the courthouse. Asked her reaction to the settlement, Brinkley said, "Google 'divorcing a narcissist,' " – to which Cook countered, "I will accept [the label] 'narcissist' over 'parental interference.' "

More than a year after their divorce was finalized following a nasty court battle, Christie Brinkley and her ex-husband Peter Cook are headed back to a court for another public showdown, even though Brinkley insists it's the last thing she wants.
"She's really upset and embarrassed that this is going back to court," Amy Jacobs, a spokesperson for Brinkley, tells PEOPLE. "She absolutely did not want to go to court. Peter is literally dragging her to court. She had chosen to look the other way for quite some time when he violated the confidentiality agreement by talking to Barbara Walters and other media outlets."

The gloves are off between Christie Brinkley and ex-husband Peter Cook. The couple faced off in court on Wednesday, each accusing the other of violating the terms of their settlement and custody agreements.
A year after their bitter divorce – in which Cook, now 50, admitted an affair with a 19-year-old babysitter – the feuding exes are no closer to getting along. The New York Post reports Cook's claim that Brinkley, 55, is trying to sabotage his relationship with the couple's two children: Jack, 14, and Sailor, 11.
Among his charges: that Brinkley failed to turn over Jack's passport so that he could go with his father on a school trip to Egypt. "She is doing everything she can to ruin my relationship with my kids," Cook said in court Wednesday. "I am trying to move on with my life and I wish she would do the same."

Christie Brinkley Is 'Energized' About 2009

After her struggles of 2008, namely her messy split from ex-husband Peter Cook, Christie Brinkley is only looking to the future.
"I want to seize the day and take advantage of this year," Brinkley told PEOPLE at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, where she unveiled her new "Got Milk?" ad to raise awareness and reintroduce Americans to milk as nature's wellness drink on Friday.
"I am so energized," she said. "I am really looking forward to the inauguration. I see this as a huge time for opportunity. This is the time for change. I am so appreciative of everything I have."

Christie 'Upset' Over Ex Taking Kids on a Flight

Christie Brinkley wanted Peter Cook to take their kids out of town to avoid having them see his TV interview about their failed marriage, but the embittered exes couldn't even agree on a mode of transportation.
In the hours before his 20/20 interview aired Friday, Brinkley learned that Cook planned on taking the couple's daughter Sailor, 10, and her brother, Jack, 13, out of town on a single-engine plane.
"Sailor called and said she was scared to get on a small plane," a source close to Brinkley tells PEOPLE.

Christie Brinkley's ex-husband Peter Cook has finally spoken out since the couple's bitter divorce – and while he owns up to having made a mistake, he maintains he had reasons for his behavior.
“It was my failing,” he admitted to Barbara Walters in an interview with 20/20 that aired Friday. “I was a great father, a great husband, and I failed as a human being… I made a mistake.”
But Cook maintained that he had reasons for his behavior: “I was seeking a connection I could not find in my own marriage,” he said of his relationship with then-teenager Diana Bianchi. “I took the cowardice way out and had an affair instead of approaching my wife and saying, “Ya know what? I’m not happy.”

Judge Denies Christie Brinkley Restraining Order Against Ex

A Long Island judge has denied Christie Brinkley's request for a temporary restraining order barring ex-husband Peter Cook from seeing their children this weekend in the wake of his revealing 20/20 interview set to air Friday.
Lawyers for both sides were in court Wednesday to discuss the temporary restraining order.
On Thursday, Brinkley's lawyer, Robert Stephan Cohen, issued the following statement on the judge's ruling: "The court order mandates that since Peter Cook has the children this weekend, his parenting has to be away from his home and he can't expose them to the 20/20 broadcast. Christie Brinkley's sole concern is to protect her children."

Christie Brinkley has filed a request for a temporary restraining order and a motion for post-judgment relief against her ex-husband Peter Cook, a Suffolk County, N.Y., official confirms to PEOPLE.
The motion was filed Wednesday – two days before Cook's revealing interview with ABC's Barbara Walters is set to air.

Peter Cook Speaks Out About Christie Brinkley Divorce

Three months after their bitter divorce was settled, Christie Brinkley's ex-husband Peter Cook says he was wrongly portrayed in court.
"I'm not the ... pervert that I've been painted to be," Cook tells Barbara Walters in an interview that will air Friday on ABC's 20/20.
Asked why he was speaking out now, Cook, 49, who admitted to having an affair with an 18-year-old assistant and an online pornography habit, tells Walters, "The misinformation that came out during the trial is the elephant in the room. It's the elephant in the room for my kids."
During the marriage, he says, "I wanted a little acknowledgment, a little attention, a little thank you every now and then for my efforts, for the amount of time I took to care for her and my family, for the wealth I was building. Just the tremendous amount of work I was putting into my family. ... My world became her world. It had to be that way."

Christie Brinkley Surfs to Maximize Time with Her Son

Rather than worrying about sharing her two young kids with her ex, Peter Cook, Christie Brinkley is focusing on "positive things" – and catching waves.
"This summer, my son is really into surfing. So I've dusted off my old surfboard. And I'm out there with him," she told PEOPLE at the 19th annual Wild West Carnival at Diamond Ranch in Watermill, N.Y., for Einstein College of Medicine of her time with Jack, 13.
"I'm mainly getting beat up. Paddling out, when you've got a big set coming, your arms feel like rubber. But you know you're going to get clobbered if you don't keep going."
And as for whether Brinkley, 54, likes the free time that Cook's allotted "parenting time" with Jack and Sailor, 10, affords her, the model said she's "not really enjoying that yet."
