Kate Gosselin: 'I Am Lonely'

It's still just Kate plus eight.
Kate Gosselin revealed Wednesday on Dr. Drew's Lifechangers that she's still single, though she's open to the idea of dating.
"I am lonely," says the former reality star mom, 36. "I clean up the house, put kids to bed, and there I sit. Ideally I would find that person – I don't know if I feel ready for that."
Asked if she has a love life, she replied: "No. I'm too busy. I think a lot of my friends, who are being constructive, say, 'Gosh, who are you going to meet that is going to be able to deal with eight kids?' My answer is always if they can deal with eight kids in our situation, it probably will be the person."

Have no fear: Kate Gosselin will be back on TV, the reality star and current PEOPLE cover girl repeatedly made clear Monday morning.
With Monday night bringing to a close her TLC show Kate Plus 8 – and ex-husband Jon Gosselin imploring Kate to get a normal life – the reality star said in a live interview with Matt Lauer on Today that she's concerned for her show's "devastated" fans whom, she said, must feel like they are losing their favorite next-door neighbor.
As for her own reaction to ending a six-year run in front of the cameras, she admitted to mixed emotions. "There is some relief," she said, [but also] there is sadness, because it's the end of an era."
There is also the fear of what future opportunities might – or, now, might not – exist for her children. With her role as a mother being to "give them the best opportunities available," she sees TV as able to provide that.

Former reality star Jon Gosselin has some harsh words for his ex-wife Kate Gosselin following her PEOPLE cover story, in which she expressed concern for her family's future.
"Reality TV is not a career," Jon said in an new interview with RumorFix.com. "Get back to a normal life – a simple life."
Following TLC's cancelation of her Kate Plus 8, the reality star told PEOPLE she's "freaking out" about providing for her eight kids.
Jon, who says that he continues to pay child support and sees his kids "a lot," isn't worried.

As two of Kate Gosselin's brood continue their hiatus from the classroom, the mother of eight wants to make one thing clear: They were not expelled.
"The school would never use that word," Gosselin, 35, tells PEOPLE. "[Collin and Alexis] were not expelled. [The school] did not feel like they could meet their needs anymore, so it was decided they should leave, for now."
Collin and Alexis, both 6, are both seeing a private tutor who teaches them an "identical curriculum" until they are ready to return to school. But for now, Gosselin says the challenges are not just academic – they're personal.

It's been a rough couple of years for the Gosselins.
Two of the family's eight children were recently expelled from school, but mom Kate Gosselin tells Entertainment Tonight that they're keeping up with their lessons and "the goal is to get them back into school as soon as possible."
Explaining what happened with Collin and Alexis, both 6, Kate says, "The pressure was getting to them. You have the divorce anger mixed in with that."
Last year, Kate and Jon Gosselin, who starred in the TLC reality series Jon and Kate Plus 8, went through a high-profile and contentious divorce after 10 years of marriage.

It has been one year since the marriage of Kate and Jon Gosselin began to crumble in plain view – and Kate acknowledges there have been difficult moments for their brood of eight.
"[Nine-year-old daughter Cara] was upset with me because I forgot to sign them up for something at school," Kate, 35, tells PEOPLE in a new cover story. "I said, 'Cara, I had a really rough year. This is a new year. You've got to give me that. Let's start over.' So I've really worked to keep my word with them."

Jon Gosselin Fires His Attorney

Jon Gosselin has fired his new attorney – the one who called Kate an "absentee parent" and who two weeks ago filed legal papers seeking full custody of the kids for Jon.
"Kate, her attorneys and I are moving forward to work out things privately and amicably," Jon Tweeted Thursday morning.
And, as for his ex-legal representative? "Mr. Anthony List Sr., Esq., is not my representing attorney; I terminated him on April 15, 2010. He has no legal right to speak to the press or anyone on my behalf."
List had told PEOPLE that he was a longtime friend of Jon's late father, Tom, and promised the elder Gosselin shortly before his death that he would help Jon if ever the need arose.

It's a rare moment when Kate Gosselin lacks an answer.
But when the reality star and I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith and Family author was asked by Jay Leno on Thursday's The Tonight Show what her ex, Jon, does for a living, she replied: "I don't know." So Leno tried again, this time asking if Jon currently has a job. And Gosselin's reply? "Not that I'm aware of."
Meanwhile, Gosselin has been under fire from her ex for allegedly not spending enough time with their eight children. That's a claim Leno said he "doesn't quite get," noting, "it seems to me most single moms work at least eight to 10 hours a day, which is what you're doing."

This is one dance Kate Gosselin has grown tired of.
As she prepares to promote her book, I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith and Family, and competes on Dancing with the Stars, the mom of eight is facing another fight with ex-husband Jon Gosselin over custody and child support.
But as much as she dreads another round of legal skirmishes, she says that fear is playing no role.
"I'm not afraid I'll lose my kids," she tells PEOPLE in this week's issue, on newsstands Friday. "I won't lose my kids. We're glued together, as a package, and nothing, nothing, will stop me from being with my kids."

Jon & Kate Child Labor Complaint Dismissed

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry will not be filing charges against Jon & Kate Plus 8 producers, who were under investigation for potentially violating state child labor laws.
According to a letter issued last month, but released Wednesday, producers must obtain child-permits if they wish to film the Gosselin children in the future. They must also allocate a portion of the proceeds into a trust fund for kids, the Associated Press reported.
"Kate and I were doing what was best for our family," Jon Tweeted Wednesday. "And it gave us an opportunity to spend quality family time together."
Kate's brother and sister-in-law Kevin and Jodi Kreider, who have spoken out against the show, were expected to testify Wednesday as Pennsylvania state lawmakers hold hearings to review child labor laws for TV and film production.
"The allegations made today by Kevin and Jodi Kreider have not been my experience at all during the production of Jon & Kate Plus 8," Jon said in another tweet.
