At the Emmy Awards on Monday, big winners Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bryan Cranston turned up the heat with a passionate (staged) kiss that reminded Seinfeld fans of his role on that show as her love interest, Tim Whatley.

For the unfamiliar: On Monday night's Emmys, Gwen Stefani and PEOPLE's current Sexiest Man Alive Adam Levine were presenting the award for outstanding variety series when Stefani mistakenly announced the name of the eventual winner as "The Colbort Report."

Awards-wise, the 2014 Emmys played out exactly the way most people would have predicted – lots of trophies for Breaking Bad and Modern Family and assorted other laurels for veteran Emmy favorites.
Thankfully, though, we had the acceptance speeches to inject a hint of surprise into the proceedings.
