What could be better than a summer barbecue? That is, of course, unless you're on a diet. Marissa Jaret Winokur recently hosted an outdoor meal with pals that she refers to as "Temptation City."
Here, in her weekly PEOPLE.com weight-loss blog, the Dance Your Ass Off host, 36, dishes about staying relatively strong in spite of the food fest and how seeing Sherri Shepherd's bathing-suit body in PEOPLE gave her hope.
Okay, I had an awesome week. I actually went to the gym and worked out about an hour a day except for Saturday when – dum dum dum dum – I hosted a BBQ! I made it as healthy as possible! I even put out light beer and I don't even drink beer. My husband's friends were not happy! BUT it was Temptation City. I did okay. I wouldn't have won the grand prize but I would have come in fourth place, and fourth is pretty good (that's where I ended up on Dancing with the Stars)!

Marissa Jaret Winokur has faced this temptation before: the spectre of being left alone in a hotel room with a stocked minibar. But recently, the Dance Your Ass Off host, 36, opted to stay strong and vanquish that diet demon by locking it up.
Here, in her weekly PEOPLE.com weight-loss blog, she shares her hilarious strategy for not letting that minibar get the best of her and how Twitter is becoming a friend in her fight to lose weight.
I went back to New York City this week for three nights (sadly, away from Zev and Judah). You may remember a few weeks ago when I went to N.Y.C. and had a close encounter with a minibar. Well, I had to face that minibar once again. It was like an ex-boyfriend, one you still loved but had to break up because you were not good for each other. One you convinced yourself, "Oh, I can still be friends with him and nothing has to happen." SOMETHING ALWAYS HAPPENS!

Recently, Marissa Jaret Winokur realized she needed a military intervention on her quest to lose weight. After reaching her low point when she scarfed down too much candy for son Zev's first birthday party, the Dance Your Ass Off host, 36, decided to head to boot camp.
Here, in her weekly PEOPLE.com weight loss-blog, she writes about how her early morning call to drop and give 'em 20 inspired her. Ten hut!
It's been hard to motivate. On Monday and Tuesday I ate in line with my 1,200-calorie goal, but working out was hard. After last week's debacle, I had to do something. So Pvt. Marissa reported for duty ... duty on my booty. Oh yeah, I said it! :)

I sit here Monday morning with my PEOPLE.com blog overdue. It was a bad week here, and I kept thinking about how I could spin it! This week was spent planning for Zev's first birthday – it started off bad and then it turned into a disaster! Every day I literally said, "Okay, tomorrow I will get back on track." But tomorrow never came!

Marissa Jaret Winokur, host of the new weight loss dance show Dance Your Ass Off, gained baby weight while awaiting the birth of her son Zev – and she wasn't even pregnant.
A survivor of cervical cancer, Winokur, 36, had her now-11-month-old son with husband Judah Miller through a surrogate and says she put on 25 pounds during and after the pregnancy. "[It was] total stress," says the actress, who won a Tony in 2003 for the musical Hairspray. "You don't actually have to carry the baby to gain weight."

Marissa Jaret Winokur is headed back to Broadway's Hairspray as the splashy musical in which she got her career start heads into its final weeks. And, this time, she's taking her baby.
Starting Dec. 9, Winokur will reprise her starring role as the ample and eager Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad, for which she won a 2003 Tony as best leading actress in a musical.
“When I started with the show I was cancer-free, I was single, I had no kids. I was just an unemployed actress," the former Dancing with the Stars finalist and cervical-cancer survivor, who welcomed son Zev Isaac Miller last July, tells PEOPLE.
"To go back to the show that gave me a career, gave me a life and now I can share this with my child – how do you say no? Besides, when does a 35-year-old get to play 16?"
