It takes a lot to stand out in a crowd like the one that gathered Monday night in New York for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's lavish Costume Institute Gala.
But if the competition was fierce, so too were many of the looks – from the dresses to the accoutrements to (of course) the hair.

Leave it to Jennifer Lawrence to upstage everyone – even Sarah Jessica Parker in a faux-hawk!
When the 22-year-old Oscar winner crossed paths with the former Sex and the City star at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala, not even Parker's Philip Treacy fascinator could compete.
With Lawrence wearing the Voilette by Jennifer Behr paired with a Dior dress, and Parker, 48, wearing legendary milliner Treacy's creation, there seemed to be an accessory face-off when the two crossed paths.
