There is a show about an obese woman on TLC that has such cultural significance that anyone in our modern society would benefit from watching.
For starters, it's hard not to fall for My Big Fat Fabulous Life because its star, Whitney Thore, is downright lovable. First a YouTube sensation for her viral Fat Girl Dancing video, she is whip-smart, funny, open and kind, but at 380 lbs., she also represents something that does not exist on reality TV: A fat person who is truly happy with herself, just the way she is.
Thore, 30, spoke to PEOPLE about life as a newly minted reality star – whose show was renewed for a second season, we have learned exclusively – the biggest misconceptions about her (no, she's not promoting obesity) and how she learned to accept herself.

Luckily for us, the woman and her partner lived to tell the tale for TLC's Sex Sent Me to the ER.

[BRIGHTCOVE "3978579094001" "" "" "auto"] TLC's controversial new special My Husband's Not Gay, airing Sunday at 10 p.m., follows three married couples – and one single man – living in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The husbands say they're all attracted to men – but insist they're not gay.

Despite growing criticism of TLC's My Husband's Not Gay, the network has no plans to cancel the show.
The one-hour special set to premiere Sunday follows four Mormon men living in Salt Lake City, Utah who are happily married to women, but are also attracted to other men. They refer to it as SSA, Same Sex Attraction.
But following the release of the TLC trailer, the show is already causing outrage.
Josh Sanders, 32, launched a Change.org petition on Dec. 29 to keep the special off the air and already has nearly 100,000 supporters.
