John Goodman hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend – and he dressed up as Dog the Bounty Hunter and attempted to squeeze into a pair of jeggings.

Which was more scarring? Who can say.

The cold open nicely skewered the Mandela funeral's errant sign language interpreter and saw German Chancellor Angela Merkel begging President Barack Obama for a selfie.

Music fans were shocked when Kings of Leon abruptly abandoned a concert after 11 songs and canceled their U.S. tour, citing "vocal issues and exhaustion" while alluding to mysterious internal sicknesses within the band.

But just a few hours earlier, PEOPLE had sat down with the Grammy-winning band for its last interview before the meltdown and found that dysfunction has long been a part of their deep bond and success – and what hasn’t killed them has made them stronger.

A new documentary, Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon, which airs Aug. 21 on Showtime, also offers a no-holds-barred look at what lead singer Caleb Followill, 29, tells PEOPLE is "the good, the bad and the ugly," from their drunken fights and drug use to emotional revelations about drummer Nathan, Caleb and bassist Jared’s humble beginnings traveling from church to church with their Pentecostal preacher father (their cousin, guitarist Matthew was raised in the same faith in Mississippi).

"We are so sorry to say ... [cancellation is] due to Caleb Followill suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion," a rep for the group said Monday in a statement. "The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break."

Unfortunately, those who purchased tickets for any of the upcoming shows won't be able to attend rescheduled performances because of the band's international tour schedule. But their purchases via online or phone will be automatically refunded.

The Kings of Leon got less than a royal response this weekend after frontman Caleb Followill cut short their Dallas concert Friday night.

About four songs into the 11 they performed, Caleb Followill started complaining about losing his voice. He told the crowd he was feeling ill, saying, "If you guys would please help me sing, I'd love it." About 50 minutes in, the rocker, 29, said he needed a break. "I'm gonna go backstage for a second and I'm gonna vomit," he told the audience at the Gexa Energy Pavilion. "I'm gonna drink a beer and I'm gonna come back out and I'm gonna play three more songs."
