The CMAs in Nashville had viewers seeing stars, but unlike in years past, there wasn't one specific standout.
All the regulars – Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Keith Urban and hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley – were in town for country's biggest night, but some of the genre's heaviest hitters walked away uncharacteristically empty-handed.
Meanwhile, duo Florida Georgia Line, one of the newer acts over the last few years, walked away with two awards: single of the year for "Cruise" and vocal duo of the year.

For Little Big Town members Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman, all you need is love to understand the meaning of their hit song, "Sober," which will be performed by the band on Wednesday's Country Music Awards.
"'Sober' reminds me of ... when Jimi [Westbrook] and I first fell in love," Fairchild tells PEOPLE of the ballad, adding that it stirs memories of the pair's trips to a drive-in theater from the start of their relationship.
For Schlapman, the song is a reminder of past heartbreak.

It's a country music tradition.
Hosted by Little Big Town – who hit up all the festival hot spots, from Zac Brown's tailgate to Lady Antebellum's Ping Pong tournament benefiting their LadyAID Fund – the annual CMA Music Festival sees 80,000 fans converge on Nashville in June and rock out to country music's biggest names: Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean, as well as the most-buzzed about newcomers, Kacey Musgraves and Brett Eldredge.
This year was no different.

Kimberly Schlapman is having some weekend. As one-quarter of the award winning country music group Little Big Town, she – along with them – is up for four Academy of Country Music Awards.
But between vying for prizes and touring, Schlapman is also enjoying the second season of her cooking show, Kimberly's Simply Southern.
On her next episode (Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. ET), Schlapman is joined in the kitchen by fellow country singer Josh Turner, and the two bond over mushrooms and their kids.

For the past 13 years, Kimberly Schlapman has been on the road with her Grammy-winning country group Little Big Town. But before she was singing "Pontoon" at sold out shows, Schlapman was at home learning her mother's secret recipes.
"I always watched my mama," she explains. "She was always cooking for people – when anyone had something to celebrate or grieve, she was at their door with supper or some kind of homemade goodie."
Taking cues from mama's specialties of biscuits and homemade pies, Schlapman's style of southern comfort food is seen in her own cakes, casseroles and fried chicken. The singer is now passing down what she learned to her daughter, Daisy, and to her fans as host of GAC's Kimberly's Simply Southern.

The X Factor's season 2 finale got underway Wednesday night with the finalists performing three songs each – including a duet with a music superstar.
Britney Spears's contestant, Carly Rose Sonenclar, has been a favorite, trading the No. 1 spot with her fellow finalist, L.A. Reid's country singer Tate Stevens, through out the competition.
