Police in Michigan are investigating the case of Alex Band, lead singer of the L.A.-based soft-rock band The Calling, who claims that two men abducted and beat him up before depositing him on train tracks over the weekend, PEOPLE has confirmed.
Band, 32, told authorities in Lapeer, Mich., that he was robbed as he left his hotel en route to a nearby mini-mart in the early hours of Sunday, reports FOX 2 in Detroit.
According to a statement issued by Sgt. Craig Gormley of the Lapeer City Police Department, "On Sunday. August 18th, 2013, at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers … responded to the McLaren-Lapeer region Hospital Emergency Department for a reported abduction/robbery that occurred … earlier in the morning. The victim, a member of the band The Calling, reported being forced into a blue-colored minivan-style vehicle between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. by two male subjects."
