Former congressman Patrick Kennedy and his wife, Amy, welcomed a daughter – Nora Kara Kennedy – on Tuesday.

Weighing 6 lbs., 11 oz. and measuring 18¼", the newest member of the Kennedy clan was born at 3:11 p.m. at the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in New Jersey, where the family now lives.

The couple, who wed in 2011, already have a son, Owen, 18 months, while Amy has a daughter Harper, 5, from a previous marriage.

Amanda Misner, the widow of a firefighter killed by Arizona wildfires in June, has given birth to the couple's son.

The baby was born Aug. 22 and has been named after his father, 26-year-old Sean Misner, who was one of 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots killed on June 30.

"For everything sad we have posted last night something joyous happened," the Sean Misner Memorial Facebook page read on Aug. 23.

"At 8:13pm, Sean Jaxon Herbert Misner was born. 6 lbs. 15 oz. 19 ¾ inches tall. Congratulations Amanda! We love you and the little guy so very much. Nobody could have been as strong as you needed to be through everything, except for you."

Giant Panda Gives Birth at Washington's National Zoo

A giant panda gave birth at Washington's National Zoo on Friday, causing buzz among fans as they flocked to a panda cam's live feed to hear the cub squeal and watch the mother immediately start caring for it.

The zoo said Mei Xiang gave birth at 5:32 p.m. Friday, two hours after her water broke. Zoo officials said the panda team heard the cub vocalize and that the mother picked it up immediately and began cradling and caring for it.

"WE HAVE A CUB!! Born at 5:32 p.m. this evening," the zoo Tweeted.

"I'm glued to the new panda cams and thrilled to hear the squeals, which appear healthy, of our newborn cub," said Dennis Kelly, director of the Smithsonian's National Zoo.

Losing his battle with colon cancer, Mark Aulger of Texas had a dying wish for his eight-months-pregnant wife Diane.

"Mark said, 'I'd like to see the baby,' " Diane, 31, tells the Associated Press.

So Diane had her labor induced two weeks early and on Jan. 18 gave birth to their third child together, daughter Savannah.

In his hospital bed, Mark cradled the baby for 45 minutes and "cried, and he just looked very sad," Diane says.
