When Maria Bello first met Clare Munn, she had an "immediate connection."
"I didn't think of it as romantic or sexual," Bello says in a New York Times column published Sunday titled Coming Out As A Modern Family. "She was one of the most beautiful, charming, brilliant, and funny people I had ever met, but it didn't occur to me that we could perhaps choose to love each other romantically."
The actress has a 12-year-old son, Jackson, from her former relationship with Dan McDermott and says she struggled with how to tell her only child about her relationship with a woman.

Jodie Foster brought some to tears when she spoke of her ailing mother during her revealing Golden Globes speech Sunday night – and, backstage, the actress continued to praise her.
"My mom is an amazing inspiration for me," Foster told reporters in the press room after her speech, in which she opened up about her family life with her two sons and ex-partner Cydney Bernard for the first time publicly.
"She picked me up from school and took me to see foreign films, sometimes two or three, and she wouldn't let me do my homework because she really wanted me to see movies. She passed that along to me, and I am grateful that she wanted me to be respected."

Jodie Foster had some bewildered and some brought to tears during her speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday.
While being honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award, the actress, 50, delivered a powerful speech where she addressed everything from her sexuality to her relationship with her mother.
"While I'm here being all confessional, I guess I just have just a sudden urge to say something that I've never really been able to air in public," a smiling Foster said. "[It's] a declaration that I'm a little nervous about – but maybe not quite as nervous as my publicist right now. I'm just going to put it out there – loud and proud."

Jim Parsons has quietly come out of the closet.
In a new profile in the New York Times, The Big Bang Theory star is matter-of-factly described "gay and in a 10-year relationship."
Parsons never directly addresses his sexuality or elaborates on the remark in the profile, and his rep had no additional comment when reached.
The Times profile couches its revelation in the context of the actor's most recent Broadway role as Tommy Boatwright in Larry Kramer's powerful play, The Normal Heart, about gay men dying of AIDS in New York in the '80s.
