It's Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month and we'll be introducing you to extraordinary canines who need homes throughout October. Today, meet Rascal and Jersey, two pups who prove that two is definitely better than one.
The Australian shepherd mixes were surrendered together to the Wisconsin Humane Society in Milwaukee because their former owner couldn't find a place that would allow them both. The shelter can't bear to split these two, who are the best of friends, so they are hoping to place them in a loving home where they can spend forever together.
"Both adore attention and their personalities perfectly complement one another," says Angela Speed, vice president of communications for the shelter. "Rascal is adventurous and outgoing, while Jersey is sweet, submissive and exceedingly affectionate. When offered treats, Rascal executes his tricks with precision and focus, while Jersey drops to the ground and attempts to become the cutest sweetheart she can imagine – and she always succeeds!"

It's an unthinkable sight: 20 tiny puppies left for dead in the harsh temperatures of Saskatchewan, Canada.
But that is what Greg Zubiak came across on Friday while hunting moose in the woods.
Zubiak told the CBC he found the animals huddled together in the cold weather with no help in sight. The hunter quickly stripped off his sweaters and bundled up the puppies before putting them in his truck and driving to Battleford's Humane Society.
