Slade Smiley is engaged to his longtime girlfriend and Real Housewives of Orange County costar, Gretchen Rossi, 34, after she recently proposed, PEOPLE has confirmed.
The popping of the question will be televised on Bravo's hit show.
"They're really happy about getting married," a source tells PEOPLE of the pair. "Gretchen always does everything out of the box, so no one is too surprised she was the one who proposed. She really wants kids with Slade, so that was a big motivator."

After Kat Von D and Joel Zimmerman, a.k.a. Deadmau5, became engaged in December, they couldn't wait to start planning their wedding.
On Aug. 10, the couple will marry in an "underwater-themed" ceremony before 200 friends and family in Los Angeles, the tattoo artist tells PEOPLE.
Drawing from their mutual love for H.P. Lovecraft's short story "The Call of Cthulhu," about a character that is half-man, half-octopus, Von D assures PEOPLE that she and the electronic musician's ceremony will be "the furthest thing from traditional."

Reid Scott's romantic persona on HBO's critically acclaimed Veep is surrounded by politics, but when it comes to his real love life, he's apparently drama free.
The actor, 35, is engaged to longtime girlfriend Elspeth Keller, a source confirms to PEOPLE.
Going the opposite direction of his serial-dating TV character Dan Egan, Scott went the traditional route and "secretly flew to San Francisco to ask Elspeth's father for her hand in marriage," the source says.

Ryan Merriman worked hard on New Year's Eve to make his proposal special. First he tried a tiki bar, but that wasn't quite right. And then he tried out a New Zealand nightclub where it was far too loud.
Finally he headed to Auckland's SkyCity and the harbor, where high above the water in an outdoor tower, as the New Year's fireworks display was launched into the night skies, he finally summoned the nerve to ask for Kristen McMullen's hand in marriage.
"I did it on the fly of the moment. Thank God it worked," he told PEOPLE Tuesday at the premiere of his new film, the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 where he plays Brooklyn Dodgers right fielder Dixie Walker, in Hollywood. "She said 'Yes.' "

The reality TV personality is set to wed boyfriend of nearly a year Jeremiah Brent, Berkus's rep confirmed to PEOPLE Wednesday.
Berkus, 41, popped the question Monday and the couple celebrated the happy news with friends in Peru atop the famed Machu Picchu.

The Talk co-host Sara Gilbert shared some good news on the show Monday – that she and girlfriend Linda Perry are tying the knot!
Gilbert told her costars and the studio audience about her engagement that happened "about a week ago."
Perry – who is a singer, songwriter and producer – planned a musical picnic to pop the question, which Gilbert called "magical and amazing."
The pair, who announced they were in a relationship last fall, were eating in a park and enjoying listening to a musician playing nearby when the surprises started.
