In the pages of Architectural Digest, Julianna Margulies's Manhattan apartment is a bright, airy stunner of a home. In reality, it's a sopping wet mess.
The Emmy-winning star of The Good Wife tells Ellen DeGeneres that her gorgeous home, designed by Vicente Wolf, met an unfortunate fate while she and her family were on vacation during the holidays.

Calling all house-hunting movie buffs: If you recognize the source of this line – "The only thing that separates us from the animals is our ability to accessorize" – and appreciate Southern architecture, get your bids ready.
The historic Louisiana residence where the all-star 1989 movie Steel Magnolias was filmed is being placed on the auction block Oct. 26, along with all the antiques and furnishings inside it.
Built in 1840, the movie stomping ground of Shirley MacLaine, Sally Field, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah and Julia Roberts in the town of Natchitoches was used as a hospital during the Civil War and recently operated as a bed-and-breakfast. Like the women in the movie, it epitomizes Southern character – genteel on the outside but strong of foundation.

Kathy Griffin is quick to fess up: She has no clue how to decorate a home.
"I have an eye for when it's done well, but I can't do it myself," admits the Emmy-winning comedian. "It's like nobody loves a great pizza more than I do, but I couldn't make one if my life depended on it."
So when it came to renovating her 7,300-sq.-ft. spread atop the Hollywood Hills, Griffin turned to her friend Lara Spencer, co-anchor of Good Morning America and a longtime interior designer.

When you are best friends, have gobs of money and a love for the Mexican seaside, there is really only one thing to do: build jaw-dropping adjoining Mexican villas, of course!
Just ask longtime BFFs George Clooney, Rande Gerber and wife Cindy Crawford, who did just that in Los Cabos, on the southern tip of Mexico's Baja peninsula, and are showing off their to-die-for vacation homes in November's Architectural Digest.
The trio named the compound Casamigos – "House of Friends" – and the longtime close pals, who launched a tequila company of the same name, use the structures accordingly.

This month marks the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's final studio album, and fans aren't just able to buy a new "super deluxe" box set to celebrate the occasion. They can also buy the childhood home of late frontman Kurt Cobain, complete with his mattress.
Cobain's mother, Wendy O'Connor, is putting the tired, 1.5-story bungalow two hours southwest of Seattle on the market this week.
To help sell it, the family is offering a glimpse into the early life of its tortured and talented son through photos shot at the house, including one of a chocolate-frosted birthday cake for the then youngster and a shot of a teenage Cobain smiling, guitar in hand, in his messy room.

Dolores Hope wanted to live in Beverly Hills, but her funnyman husband, Bob Hope, had other ideas.
"Every time I mentioned Beverly Hills, Bob would go out and buy another piece of property here," Dolores would say, waving a hand to indicate the vast spread that the two of them inhabited in the San Fernando Valley's Toluca Lake starting in 1939.
Eventually the grounds surrounding their English-style manor swelled to 5.16 acres, and the family grew to include four children. The house grew, too, to 15,000 sq. ft., leaving Bob to joke that he needed a map just to find the way to his room.

Cameron Diaz is as glamorous at home as she is on the red carpet.
Elle Décor visited the actress's chic 2,400-sq.-ft., pre-war New York City apartment for its October issue.
The home is a collaboration with interior designer Kelly Wearstler – once a judge on Bravo's Top Design – who appears alongside a casually dressed, barefoot Diaz, 41, in the spread.
Highlights of the tour include the star's bathroom, which features a regal-looking gold sink, a neutral-colored sitting room saturated with natural light, yellow accents and a high-heel shaped paperweight and a marble-topped vanity.
