France's unofficial first lady Valérie Trierweiler, companion to President François Hollande, is in the hospital amid reports that he has been cheating on her with actress Julie Gayet.
Trierweiler was admitted Jan. 10 for "rest and some tests," her office announced Sunday. Press reports say the cause is either "stress" or "intense blues."
The assumed source of her blues? Revelations that Hollande, 59, a lifelong bachelor has been seeing popular French actress Julie Gayet, 41, even as he is living with Trierweiler, 48, his official companion since 2007.
A journalist for Paris Match, Trierweiler has been France's de facto first lady since Hollande's election, enjoying semi-official status as well as an Elysée office and five-person staff at taxpayer expense.

Could Frank Sinatra actually be the biological father of Mia Farrow's handsome son Ronan – whose father was always said to be Woody Allen?
Although no DNA tests were ever done, Ronan, a 25-year-old former Rhodes scholar who bears a striking resemblance to Ol' Blue Eyes, remains close to the late crooner's family, as does Farrow, Vanity Fair reports in its November issue, in an interview with the actress.
Farrow, 68, who was married to Sinatra from 1966 to 1968, admittedly continued a relationship with the music legend while she was involved in a longtime relationship with filmmaker Allen.
Sinatra, who died in 1998, would have been about 72 when Ronan, born in 1987, was conceived.
Asked point blank by Vanity Fair's Maureen Orth whether Ronan could be Sinatra's son, Farrow responds with one word: "Possibly."

Cowell was spotted boarding a yacht in the South of France. He "has been in contact with Lauren since her divorce turned messy but "won't see Lauren in person until things calm down," the source says.

If anyone's been following the sex scandals of Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer, it's Julianna Margulies.
The Emmy-winning actress's CBS show The Good Wife "ripped its title from the headlines when Silda Spitzer was standing right behind her husband" during the prostitution scandal, Margulies told PEOPLE on Tuesday.
With her character "loosely based" on Silda and other political wives who have stood by their husbands, Margulies says, "The headlines are now imitating us because both of these politicians – Spitzer and Weiner – have gotten back into the game of politics. And now newspapers are saying, 'Huma, take some advice from Alicia Florrick. Go back to work, don't read the papers.' "
