Ned Vizzini Commits Suicide

Ned Vizzini, a popular young adult author and television writer who wrote candidly and humorously about his struggles with depression, has committed suicide.

His brother, Daniel Vizzini, says Ned Vizzini jumped off the roof of his parents' home in Brooklyn on Thursday. New York City's medical examiner's office confirmed Friday that Vizzini took his own life.

The author, whose autobiographical novel It's Kind of a Funny Story was adapted into a feature film of the same name, was 32.

Published in 2006, the book tells of a high school student who ends up in a mental hospital. In recent years, Vizzini was collaborating with filmmaker Chris Columbus on a series of young adult novels. He also was working on the NBC series Believe, a project co-created by J.J. Abrams.

Survivor is a cutthroat game with only one winner each season, but Survivor: Blood vs. Water contestant Katie Collins has discovered that in times of need, all rivalries and alliances are forgotten.

"We've been getting sweet messages and notes from Survivors that I've never even met," Collins, 26, tells PEOPLE of the outpouring of support following the death of her brother Taylor, 25, who was ejected from the front passenger seat of a vehicle that hit a house in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Dec. 3.

The news of the accident came as a shock to Survivor fans, who were first introduced to Collins and her brother when their mother Tina Wesson, 52, was declared the winner of Survivor: Australia in 2001.

Paul Walker Laid to Rest After Funeral Service in Los Angeles

Paul Walker was buried on Saturday after a private funeral service in Los Angeles, according to reports.

The Fast & Furious star, who died in a fiery car crash on Nov. 30 that also killed his friend and business partner Roger Rodas, was cremated and his remains were interred at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Hollywood Hills.

The funeral service for the 40-year-old actor was an intimate gathering for his family and close friends, including his father Paul Walker Sr., his mother Cheryl Walker and his brothers Caleb Walker and Cody Walker, according to eonline.com. A second memorial service is reportedly being planned and will be attended by his Fast & Furious cast mates and crew.

Gibson posted a heartfelt message to his Facebook account on Tuesday, mourning his Fast and the Furious costar.

"In moments like this, it feels – it feels like death has won. But the Bible says that love is stronger than death," Gibson wrote, paraphrasing a funeral sermon by Bishop T.D. Jakes.

Paul Walker Dies in Car Crash

Paul Walker, star of The Fast and the Furious franchise, has died, his rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The actor, 40, died Saturday afternoon when a car he was in crashed and exploded in Santa Clarita, Calif. The driver also was killed.

"When they arrived, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames," the police said in a statement. "The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire and subsequently located two victims inside the vehicle. The victims were pronounced dead at the scene."

"This is an ongoing investigation," Deputy Heischuber of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station tells PEOPLE. "A solo car crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the city of Santa Clarita, on the outskirts of Valencia. A 911 call came in from a bystander."
