President Bush: An 'Awfully Special' Wedding Weekend

As tiny Crawford, Texas, and surrounding towns emptied of wedding guests on
Sunday, President Bush pronounced the weekend an "awfully special" one. And,
by all accounts, an emotional one for the First Family.
"Our little girl, Jenna, married a really good guy," the president told
reporters on the tarmac before boarding Air Force One with First Lady Laura
Bush and his parents for the return trip to Washington, D.C.

It's official: Jenna Welch Bush wed Henry Chase Hager Saturday – making her the first daughter of a sitting United States president to marry in 16 years.
The pair exchanged vows just before sundown in a lakeside ceremony threatened by a tornado watch at President Bush's secluded 1,600-acre Prairie Chapel Ranch
in Crawford, Texas.

The fight song for the University of Texas – Jenna Bush's alma mater – rang out accompanied by cheers through the quaint streets of Salado, Texas,
Friday night, as the president's daughter and fiancé Henry Hager celebrated at a rehearsal dinner and "Texas-sized" afterparty with their families and wedding guests.
The Secret Service closed down streets in Salado, about 50 miles south of
President Bush's ranch, where Jenna and Henry were to be wed at a lakeside
evening ceremony Saturday night.

Nick & Mariah's Wedding Bling: A Closer Look

When Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey made their first public appearance as newlyweds on Thursday, the pair simply dazzled – almost as much as their wedding jewelry.
Carey, who attended TIME magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" gala with her new husband, showed off her impressive pink diamond sparkler from of Jacob & Co. jewelers. The ring, valued at a whopping $2.5 million, is 17 carats. The center stone alone is 10-carats – a little smaller than a dime.
"I wanted to do something extremely special, something that Mariah would really appreciate," Cannon told PEOPLE. "We got the pinkest stone we could find, surrounded by other diamonds."
Carey definitely approved. "It's so clear, you can see my finger through it," she said.

Crawford Residents Celebrate Jenna Bush's Upcoming Wedding

For the small town of Crawford, Texas, the wedding of their favorite son George W. Bush's daughter Jenna and her fiancé Henry Hager on Saturday is turning into a royal celebration.
"If you thought the excitement for Princess Diana and Charles's wedding was big, you should visit Crawford!" says wedding and event planner Steve Kemble, who has worked with the Bush family. "The local residents are exuberant."
The excitement for Saturday's event is evident throughout the small town, located 90 miles north of Austin and with a population of about 800 people.

Sara Evans in the Planning Stages for Wedding

Country singer and Dancing with the Stars alum Sara Evans is in the thick of planning her wedding to Jay Barker, a former quarterback at the University of Alabama
"Right now, we're meeting with a wedding planner, but we haven't set a date yet," she said recently at the CMT Crossroads bar in the Harrah’s Horseshoe Casino, near Shreveport, La.
The singer, who performed at the club, showed off a her large diamond sparkler to the impressed crowd. The couple announced their engagement in March.
Evans, 37, underwent a very public divorce battle with her ex-husband, Craig Schelske, which was finalized last year.

Friend: Mariah Is 'Over the Moon' About Marriage

Newlywed Mariah Carey is "over the moon" with happiness about her recent marriage to Nick Cannon, according to her friend, Vogue editor Andre Leon Talley.
"She is very happy," he told PEOPLE at the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in New York on Monday. "I've spoken with her and she is superb. She is over the moon."
In his latest communication from the singer, he said she sounds like a woman in love. "I received an email from her [Monday] and she is so happy. She really sounds like someone on her honeymoon."
Talley also had words of praise for the songbird's new husband. "I love Nick Cannon for Mariah," he said. "For Mariah, this is poetry."
As for her wedding fashion, Talley said the nuptials happened so quickly that "I didn't have the time to offer her any style tips!"

Following the news that Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds have gotten engaged, friends are speaking out to offer heartfelt congratulations on the pairs' next step.
"I just heard," said designer Marc Jacobs at the Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in New York on Monday. "I'm really happy for her. She's a great girl."
The designer, who worked with Johansson on a Louis Vuitton campaign, added, "I just think Scarlett is great and I hope she is very, very happy. She's super funny, [and] I love a smart, ballsy, New Yorker and that's what she is. I wish her the best."

Laura Bush revealed during a news conference on Monday.
"[It] was his idea to build this beautiful limestone altar," the
First Lady told reporters of the now-permanent fixture at the family's
Crawford, Texas ranch – where their daughter will wed on May 10. "It's the same thing that our house is made of from a
local quarry. And they're the ones that made it."
