Matt Damon's wife now has his entire family and all of his friends on her side if there's ever an argument over who gets the side of the bed closest to the bathroom.
"It's nice to say your vows in front of family," Damon told the crowd gathered Thursday at Harvard University, where he was honored for his work in the arts with 2013 Harvard Arts Medal presented by actor John Lithgow.
"That's the point of taking the vows. These are people who will hold you to them. One of my vows was I gave her the side of the bed closer to the bathroom. And if I don't stick to that, I'm gonna hear about that from my mom, brother and father."
On April 13, Damon and wife Luciana renewed their wedding vows in front of 50 family and friends on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia, though during Thursday night's question-and-answer session, he explained why the couple had originally married at city hall.

Dancing with the Stars alum Melissa Gilbert tied the knot with former Thirtysomething star Timothy Busfield "in a private ceremony at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara on April 24," Gilbert's rep confirms to PEOPLE. The bride wore red.
Beloved Little House on the Prairie star, Gilbert, 48, and Busfield, 55, got engaged over the holidays. Both have been married twice before. She is the mother of two; he has three children.

It was a Saturday wedding for former Friday Night Lights actor Scott Porter and girlfriend Kelsey Mayfield.
"Today is the day. There are no more tomorrows. And I could NOT be happier!" he Tweeted about the ceremony held at Camp Lucy, Dripping Springs, Texas, before 140 friends and family members.
The groom's father, Butch, was best man, and the bride's sister, Lindsey, was maid of honor – while the couple's dog, Truffle, served as flower girl. The bride and groom wrote their own vows.
"Two families became one today," added Porter, 33, along with an Instagram pic.

Following reports that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have postponed their wedding, issues between the couple continue to overshadow their romance.
"Miley and Liam had another argument before the weekend and the engagement ring is off again," a source close to Cyrus tells PEOPLE.
Since Cyrus returned to Los Angeles after recently visiting Miami, the rift deepened between the former Disney star, 20, and the Hunger Games actor, though the couple continue to live together at Cyrus's Toluca Lake house.
This weekend, with his brother Chris, a scruffily bearded Hemsworth, looking to be in a relaxed, smiling mood, attended the City Year Spring Break event on the Sony lot in L.A – where Liam was bombarded by young female fans asking to take photos with him, which he did graciously.

"Wait, traditional Jewish ceremony at a bacon-themed wedding, can you say 'oxymoron'?" Herzfeld tells PEOPLE. The best man, Poch's brother Seth, jokes that the couple united in "holy and unkosher matrimony."
