Police are searching for four or five people they believe scaled to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge's two towers in the dead of night, disabled lights illuminating two large American flags and then replaced the flags with bleached-white ones.

This time, it was Beyoncé – rather than her fans – who was doing all of the screaming.
The singer, 31, acted out the lyrics from her hit song "Single Ladies" and put her "hands up" Wednesday, taking a thrill ride on Coney Island's famed Cyclone for her new music video.
Sporting a cap featuring the image of the late rapper Notorious B.I.G., a white tank top, loads of bling and a big smile, the pop icon rode in the front car of the amusement park's iconic rollercoaster for the music video, which is being directed by fashion photographer Terry Richardson.

Katy Perry didn't need fireworks to end the VMAs, instead she provided a knock-out.
The singer gave the first live performance of her new single "Roar" under the Brooklyn Bridge on Sunday night, on a stage set up like a boxing ring and decorated with a gold lion and a gold tiger head.
Sticking with the theme of her set, Perry dressed like a prizefighter with sparkling gloves, an animal-print sports bra, shorts with a flame print and gold lace-up boots. She even had an actor playing a trainer in her corner of the ring, who handed her a water bottle and offered her a bucket to spit in afterwards. She really showed off her jump-roping skills!

Katy Perry will be the closing act at MTV's Video Music Awards on Sunday.
The 28-year-old will perform her latest single, "Roar" for the first time on live television from an undisclosed location – away from the rest of the awards at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
Will she be joined by beau (and duet partner) John Mayer on top of the Brooklyn bridge? Or will Brooklyn native Jay-Z guide her around his hometown from the Marcy Projects to Coney Island? Will she pay tribute to Notorious B.I.G. in Bedstuy? Or will she go all GIRLS on us and channel Lena Dunham in Greenpoint?

Who needs a limo? Apparently not Beyoncé.
The singer, who performed the last of three concerts at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Monday night, posted pics on Instagram showing how she got to work – by riding her bike a little over three miles from her Manhattan home across the iconic Brooklyn Bridge.
"I biked to Barclays for my last show in Brooklyn!" she wrote.
While her mode of transportation might have been a surprise, the 31-year-old had an even bigger treat in store for fans who attended the show on Monday – an appearance by her husband, Jay-Z, who walked onstage when she was in the middle of singing "Bow Down."

Who will take home a Moon Man this year?
Odds look good that Justin Timberlake might be dancing off with a few.
Nominations for MTV's 30th annual Video Music Awards, to air live August 25 (9 p.m. ET), were announced Wednesday morning, with Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis each scoring six to lead the pack.

Rain, rain, go away!
Anne Hathaway got caught in a spring shower on Thursday.
The Oscar winner was waiting outside Foragers Market in Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood with her dog while her husband, Adam Shulman, got the couple two green juices inside.
Hathaway opted for the Henry Street, a juice made with kale, parsley and celery, while Shulman had the Brooklyn Bridge, a similar blend, an onlooker tells PEOPLE.

Now this is a celebrity sighting worth Tweeting about.
New Yorkers were thrilled to spot Beyoncé out with her 14-month-old daughter, Blue Ivy, on Sunday in Brooklyn.
The "Bow Down" singer, 31, wore a black hoodie and dark sunglasses, while an apparently sleepy Blue Ivy donned little boots on the mother-daughter outing to Buttermilk Channel restaurant, the Huffington Post reports.

Tom Hardy may have played pure evil in The Dark Knight Rises but a recent encounter with fans proves he's a sweetheart in real life.
Brianna Jordan and her friends visited the set of Hardy's new crime drama Animal Rescue during filming in Brooklyn on Thursday.
While Jordan and her friends "grabbed some coffee to stay warm," they ended up watching some of the shoot and "were lucky enough to catch [Hardy] between sets and got some pictures," she tells PEOPLE.
