"I like being in a place where people appreciate the little things and don't need a lot of stuff to be happy," the Nashville star tells Southern Living for its March cover story, which features a celebrity on its front for the first time in its 48-year history.
"At my core, this is the kind of person I am and want to be."

It's a country music tradition.
Hosted by Little Big Town – who hit up all the festival hot spots, from Zac Brown's tailgate to Lady Antebellum's Ping Pong tournament benefiting their LadyAID Fund – the annual CMA Music Festival sees 80,000 fans converge on Nashville in June and rock out to country music's biggest names: Carrie Underwood and Jason Aldean, as well as the most-buzzed about newcomers, Kacey Musgraves and Brett Eldredge.
This year was no different.

Nicole Kidman and Lenny Kravitz? Well, that looks familiar!
While attending the CMT Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday, Kidman and husband Keith Urban looked thrilled to run into the rocker backstage.
The couple and Kravitz exchanged hugs, and posed for a group photo.
Although it wasn't exactly a country tune, Kravitz, 49, kicked off the awards show with his smash hit, "American Woman." Urban, 45, is also scheduled to perform during the show.

No tricks, lots of treats!
Tim McGraw and The Mavericks debuted songs from their upcoming 2013 albums at a private Halloween show in Nashville on Wednesday.
During McGraw's preview of songs from Two Lanes of Freedom, he was joined by R&B crooner Ne-Yo.
"Tim and Ne-Yo aren't a new collaboration. Ne-Yo recorded 'Only Human' with the country singer for his Emotional Traffic album," a source tells PEOPLE.
The singers performed "Only Human" and "She Is" before McGraw closed the set with his new single "One of Those Nights."
"One of Those Nights" will make its television debut during Thursday's Country Music Awards on ABC.

This wasn't the first time Darius Rucker was pranked by Brad Paisley. But Tuesday night at the Grand Ole Opry marked the first time one of Paisley's stunts moved him to tears – of joy – and had the audience leaping to its feet.
Midway through his set as the final act on the weekly Tuesday night Opry show, Rucker, 46, good-naturedly replied yes when the announcer asked if he would be open to some questions from the audience, and took queries from two female fans.
Then Opry manager Pete Fisher allowed one more question, and a man in a white hat stood up and grabbed the wireless mike. When the audience recognized Paisley, they burst into delighted applause, and Rucker and his band broke out laughing.
