Why Julia Louis-Dreyfus Won't Get a Facelift: 'I'm Glad to Be the Age I Am'

Originally posted 08/18/2015 12:00PM

Julia Louis-Dreyfus admits she sometimes feels burdened by Hollywood's youth- and beauty-obsessed culture – but not quite as much as she used to.

"I do feel the pressure. I'm not going to lie to you and say I don't feel the pressure," the Veep star, 54, tells PEOPLE. "But I would also say I don't quite feel it the way I used to. There's a part of me that's like … 'Who gives a s---?' "

Viola Davis: 'My Story Deserves to Be Told'

Originally posted 08/18/2015 09:45AM

Bedtime stories at Viola Davis' home always star the same heroine: her preschool-age daughter Genesis, 4.

"She says, 'Make the princess me. Let it be me,' " Davis tells PEOPLE in the magazine's latest issue. "That's what happens when you're young. Then something happens where you realize, 'They don't see me that way.' "

But the two-time Academy Award nominee, 50, refuses to let go of that childlike desire.

"I want to be in the story," says the first-time Emmy nominee. "I think I deserve to be in that story, and I believe my story deserves to be told."

Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany on Rejecting Hollywood Beauty Standards: 'I Refused to Wax My Mustache'

Originally posted 08/14/2015 11:00AM

Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany is just as fierce off screen as she is on.

"I don't think that any woman in this industry hasn't [experienced sexism] – I think we all have in various ways, and sometimes you can't even tell that it's happening because it's so ingrained in the way things are structured," Maslany tells PEOPLE. "Seventy or 80 percent of the people on set are male – directors, writers, producers, people in positions of power, but that's shifting too."

Maslany, 29, was recently nominated for her first Emmy Award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for portraying a group of clones on cult BBC America hit Orphan Black.

Claire Danes Sounds Off on Hollywood Body Bullying: 'My Body Is Monitored and Commented on Infinitely More Than My Male Counterpart'

Originally posted 08/11/2015 10:40AM

Many actresses agree that being a woman in Hollywood isn't easy, and Claire Danes is raising her voice in support of her fellow actresses and the criticism they've confronted about their size.

"I feel like my body is monitored and commented on infinitely more than my male counterpart," the Homeland star tells PEOPLE.

"I remember a couple of Emmys ago, Lena Dunham and I were on the carpet together. We were singled out and criticized for having different body types – I was too skinny and she was too big," recalls Danes, 36. "She is a dear friend of mine, and it made me angry because this is just how we are."

Tituss Burgess was rendered speechless on Thursday morning after receiving his first Emmy nomination – an exceedingly rare occurrence, he must admit.

Burgess, 36, scored a nomination for best supporting actor in a comedy series for his portrayal of flamboyantly endearing would-be musical-theater actor Titus Andromedon on Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

"I was uncontrollable," the actor tells PEOPLE upon hearing the news. "I sobbed, and I couldn't believe it, and I'm usually so brilliant at always having something to say."
