Hollywood is already a lot like high school, and never more so than during awards season. Competition fills the air, everyone obsesses over dresses they will wear exactly once and, as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler demonstrated at the Golden Globes, who sits with who is a matter of extreme importance.
But on a greater level, each awards show is also its own friend group, with all the little in-jokes, rituals and histories that implies. Which ceremony is which clique? On the eve of the Director's Guild of America Awards, see it all explained below.

All eyes were on Leonardo DiCaprio at Sunday's Golden Globes. Not only did the actor win for his role in Wolf of Wall Street, but he was also the source of the night's greatest zinger.
Cohosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler invited DiCaprio onstage as a presenter with a not-so-subtle jab at the the actor's personal life.

Joaquin Phoenix and Leonardo DiCaprio had plenty in common at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards. Both were nominees for best actor in a comedy or musical; both brought their moms to the event; and both later accepted Diddy's invitation for some after-hours fun.
DiCaprio won for The Wolf of Wall Street, but that didn't seem to dampen Phoenix's spirits, as the actors, both 39, hit up Butter Group's soon-to-open nightclub 1 OAK LA in West Hollywood, where Diddy held court and a deejay spun tunes late into the night – and Diddy's new DeLeon tequila flowed generously.
Phoenix, who was nominated for Her, arrived at about 10:45 p.m. with his mom, his girlfriend Allie Teilz and some other friends. The famously reclusive actor was in a great mood, smiling and laughing throughout the evening and even hitting the dance floor with Teilz. At one point, Teilz threw her arms around him and the two were lovey dovey.

Which GIFs will fade with Monday's hangovers, and which will achieve lasting immortality as a reaction-GIF staple? We've ranked them to find out.

Ruh-roh! If we are to glean anything from the Twitter account of Finn Seyfried, the beloved Australian shepherd of Amanda Seyfried, it may be that this was his last year watching the Golden Globes. But not to worry Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, it has nothing to do with you!
Like so many others, Finn took to Twitter to voice his thoughts about Sunday's broadcast, narrowing in on one of the show's most remarked upon issues.
"How many dog years is it taking these winners to make it to the stage? #yikes" he Tweeted.
