Beyond her Tweet in which she called ex-husband Bruce Jenner a "hero" for his decision to move forward with transitioning into a woman, Kris has kept fairly quiet on the subject.
However, Kathie Lee Gifford spoke up in Kris' defense on Monday. A longtime friend of the Jenners, the Today host – along with her husband, Frank – is even a godparent to Kendall and Kylie.
During her 20/20 special, Sawyer said that Kris, 59, could not be reached for comment – a charge that the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch later denied on Twitter.

Bruce Jenner's first wife, Chrystie Scott, has revealed the moment he opened up to her about his gender identity – calling it a "shock."
Scott, the mother of Jenner's two oldest children, was the first person the Olympic champion confided in, he admitted in his 20/20 interview on Friday night.
In the interview, Jenner told Diane Sawyer, "For all intents and purposes, I am a woman." In the days following the interview, which drew nearly 17 million viewers to ABC, Jenner's famous family members have spoken candidly with the media regarding his transition.
On Monday, Scott – who was married to Jenner from 1972 to 1981 – opened up to George Stephanopoulos during Good Morning America's 7 a.m. hour: "I can't remember the exact words because it was such a shock to me, but he opened up his heart and confessed, and he had to share this deep, dark secret," Scott told Stephanopoulos about her ex-husband's confession from their first year of marriage.
"He told me he wanted to be a woman, and understandably, I didn't know what to say."
Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Rob Kardashian Says Scott Disick's Drunken Antics Have Him Acting 'Crazy'

Surprise: Scott Disick was behind yet another round of drunken shenanigans on Sunday's episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
More than ever, his drinking was a sticking point for longtime girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian, 36, who was due to give birth to their third child any day and didn't want him to be "drunk in the delivery room."
Scott decided to book a job in Las Vegas against Kourtney's wishes and arrived home "belligerently drunk," as Khloé described it. (As she is wont to do.)

Bruce Jenner addressed speculation that he chose to share his life-changing choice to transition from male to female with ABC's Diane Sawyer for publicity reasons during his sit-down interview with the host Friday evening.
"Yeah right," he told the ABC journalist. "Do you have any idea what I've been going through my whole life? And people think I’m doing this for publicity."
But because he has been in the spotlight and on reality TV for many years, the former Olympian understands fan skepticism.

Bruce Jenner is finally sharing his story.
The former Olympian spoke publicly for the first time about transitioning from male to female in an interview with Diane Sawyer on 20/20 on Friday night.
"I would say I've always been very confused with my gender identity since I was this big," said Jenner, 65, tearing up. "I tried to explain it, because I've had all my kids sitting in that chair … and I've tried to explain it this way. God's looking down, making little Bruce … he says 'Okay, what are gonna do with this one. Make him a smart kid, very determined ... and then when he's just finishing he says, 'Let's wait a second.'
"God looks down and chuckles a little bit and says, 'Hey, let's give him the soul of a female.' "
