We have a new royal.
The Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William have welcomed their first child, a son, PEOPLE confirms.
The news the world's been waiting for since Kate went into London's St. Mary's Hospital early Monday morning was revealed Monday afternoon, some four hours after the Duchess, 31, gave birth.
The message was delivered in a press release, stating that a son was born at 4:24 p.m., weighing 8 lbs., 6 oz. After about 14 hours of labor, Kate had a natural delivery.

It's only a matter of hours now! Kate has entered the hospital to have her baby.
"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted this morning to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour," reads an official statement from Kensington Palace. "The Duchess traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge."
With Prince William by her side, Kate was already in labor when she was admitted to the hospital just before 6 a.m. in London. The palace has also said her labor is progressing normally.

The #greatkatewait continues.
Speculation around the Duchess of Cambridge's due date continues to heat up, along with the stifling temperatures currently gripping London.
Speculation reached new heights Friday, when the Daily Telegraph suggested Kate could have been due July 19 – because medical staff, a source tells the newspaper, were warned to be on best behavior – including staying off alcohol – for a month starting that day.
The royal's due date – which was the beginning of the week, PEOPLE understands – came under increased scrutiny Thursday, as focus briefly switched to a different hospital outside London: the Royal Berkshire hospital in Reading, near her parents' manor house in Bucklebury, where she has been spending time.

As the sun rises up over the mountains of the L.A.-area home he shares with wife Vanessa, Nick Lachey walks upstairs, peeks into the nursery of his nearly 8-month-old son Camden John and begins singing.
"He's an angel; he's the happiest kid," says Lachey, scooping up his boy and feeding him a bottle before walking out to get the paper with his dog Wookie in tow. "It's our morning 'dude time' and the perfect way to start my day."
It's a new dawn indeed for the pop star-turned-family man. "Vanessa and I were at the point in our lives where we were 100 percent ready to become parents," says Lachey, 39. "Every single thing in your life changes, and we welcomed that."
