Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

I should tell you that I was living in New York City on 9/11, and am not what one would call "over it." So I approach 9/11-related films with trepidation.
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close is about grief. Oskar Schell (Thomas Horn), a frank, curious boy, mourns his father (Tom Hanks), who died that day.
The movie is also about the New York that I came to know after 9/11, and that's what makes it extraordinary. When Oskar discovers an envelope with a key among his dad’s things, he puts aside his phobias to find the lock it opens, meeting a string of wondrous people.

She's extremely lovely and incredibly glamorous!
Sandra Bullock walked the red carpet at the premiere of her new film, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, in New York on Thursday and showed off her sleek and sexy hair in a satin jumpsuit with a stingray belt by Alexander McQueen.
The film, which also stars Tom Hanks and Jeopardy! Kids Week champion Thomas Horn, 13, is based on Jonathan Safran Foer's 2005 novel about a 9/11 widow and her son's search for meaning after his father's death.
Despite early Oscar buzz, Bullock, 47, recently told PEOPLE she's focused on being a mom to her adorable son, Louis.

And the winner is ... Who knows?
The late entry into the race by buzzed-about films Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo has made for a wide-open Oscar race for Best Picture this year.
"I can't remember a year like this where there was no clear front-runner," says a longtime awards season veteran. "Nobody knows where this race is going."

Thomas Horn is only 13 years old, but he's already been a Jeopardy! Kids Week champion – and he gets to share his very first big screen with Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks, playing their son when Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close arrives in theaters on Christmas Day.
Aside from his acting skills displayed in the 2½ minute trailer for the buzz-worthy film, based on Jonathan Safran Foer's 2005 novel, San Francisco-born Horn has many other talents.
Here are five things to know about the up-and-coming teen star and the close bond he shares with his Academy Award-winning costars.
1. He was discovered during his Jeopardy! Kids Week appearance
