It's not easy being one of the most visible faces of a huge franchise.

Just ask Chris Evans, whose fame as Captain America caused his "I'm going to take a break from acting but also I'm not" statements to blow up earlier this year.

Or ask Robert Downey Jr., who seems to be enjoying playing coy about his role in the Iron Man franchise and the Marvel Universe.

Downey gave two seemingly contradictory interviews Tuesday: During the day, he told Ellen DeGeneres that he was going to do a fourth Iron Man.

Blame it on the costuming.

When Iron Man super-fan Jaxson Denno discovered he was not meeting the super hero, but rather the actor who portrayed him, the 1½-year-old was super sad.

But our readers were touched as Iron Man 3 star Robert Downey Jr. met up with the child and tried to stem Jaxson's disappointment in meeting the actor, and not the fantasy man in the suit. See the story here.

Not even Iron Man can solve every problem.

The superhero's alter ego, Robert Downey Jr., found that out first-hand this week, when he encountered 1½-year-old super-fan Jaxson Denno – who just couldn't wait to meet Iron Man.

Only problem: Downey, in the Western Massachusetts towns of Sunderland and Shelburne Falls to shoot his latest, The Judge, was not wearing his Iron Man outfit.

With Iron Man 3 breaking box office records, nobody is happier about the film's success than actor Ashley Hamilton, who plays a small but pivotal role of former military officer Jack Taggert.

Hamilton, whose band The Wondergirls also performs the song "Let's Go All the Way" on the soundtrack with Robbie Williams, says he's "really grateful for somebody giving me an opportunity again. I just didn't have that before."

The 38-year-old son of George Hamilton has had more than his fair share of troubles when it came to drug and alcohol abuse.

Ty Simpkins: 5 Things to Know About the Iron Man 3 Scene Stealer

Ty Simpkins currently stars as the young boy who gives a helping hand – and a hard time – to Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark in Iron Man 3, but there is much more to the New York City native, who has been acting since he was 3 months old.

Simpkins, 11, has already starred on two different daytime soaps (One Life to Live and Guiding Light), worked with Oscar winner Kate Winslet on three movies (All the Kings Men, Little Children and Revolutionary Road) and become the face of a new horror franchise (Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2, expected later this year).

Iron Man 3 & Boston Marathon Bombing: PEOPLE's Critic Weighs In About Violent Similarities

Originally posted 05/03/2013 12:55PM

A megalomaniacal terrorist unleashes a rash of bombings across the United States. Innocent people die. A nation reels in horror. No, these aren’t the latest headlines – they're the set-up of the latest Iron Man movie, already igniting controversy.

For some viewers, that plotline about a terrorist known as The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) cuts too closely to the Boston Marathon bombing allegedly carried out by the Tsarnaev brothers earlier this month. It certainly caused a hush to fall over the crowd at the film's glitzy Los Angeles premiere at the El Capitan Theatre last week.

The film's stars addressed the issue at a press conference last week, with Don Cheadle (who plays Col. James Rhodes) stressing that the film was finished well before the bombings earlier this month, and that there is no political agenda.

"The job of this film is to entertain," he said. "That's what we're hoping to do."

Iron Man 3 Not as Much Fun as Original – or The Avengers

It's hard to know how battling a giant alien millipede might affect a guy, but it seems to have turned Iron Man 3's Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) into Bruce Wayne.

This post-Avengers Iron Man is a brooding insomniac, tinkering in his Batcave and so mired in existential angst that he's having panic attacks. He's so dour, it's actually a relief when a madman attacks his Malibu manse, blowing it off the map in one of the film's most spectacular scenes.

At least then we don't have to spend the entire threequel in Tony's head.
