The all-star comedy Meet the Fockers retained its box-office dominance for the third straight weekend, taking in $28.5 million despite the arrival of the new, critically clobbered fright flick with Michael Keaton, White Noise.

Meet the Fockers Breaks New Year Records

There's no stopping Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Barbra Streisand and Dustin Hoffman. Their dysfunctional comedy Meet the Fockers was No. 1 at the box office for the second straight week and shattered records for the biggest gross on New Year's Eve, with $12.2 million, and on New Year's Day, with $18 million, according to studio estimates.

In what will clearly be a yet another kick in the pants to "Father Knows Best," Dustin Hoffman has been cast to play Ben Stiller's dad in the forthcoming "Meet the Fockers," the sequel to the 2000 comedy hit "Meet the Parents," says the Hollywood Reporter.
