Stand-up comic and film actor Gad Elmaleh is not only considered the funniest person in France, but he's also dating Monaco's Charlotte Casiraghi, the stunning royal granddaughter of the late Princess Grace Kelly. And Casiraghi is expecting their first child together later this year.
Virtually unknown in the U.S., Elmaleh, 42, was actually in Woody Allen's Oscar-winning Midnight in Paris, as the misguided Détective Tisserant.
Starting Friday, American audiences will have the opportunity to see him again, this time in his starring role in the financial thriller Capital, opposite Gabriel Byrne and directed by Oscar-winning French director Costa-Gavras.
Here are five things to know about the Moroccan-born celebrity, who recently sat down with PEOPLE.

Make no mistake: Oscar loves the movies.
Of the nine films in contention to be named Best Picture, the two with the most overall nominations – Hugo, with 11, and The Artist, with 10 – focus on the art form in its infancy and each is a Valentine to the medium – but will one of them snag Oscar's heart?
Having already earned Martin Scorsese a Golden Globe for his direction, Hugo sets its story in Paris, where orphan Hugo Cabret helps the real-life 1900s screen pioneer Georges Melies (played by Ben Kingsley) enjoy renewed appreciation in 1931.
With a number critics' circle awards as best picture of 2011, BAFTA's and the Producers Guild best picture of the year awards and the best musical or comedy motion picture Golden Globe, The Artist, set in 1927, examines of Hollywood's transition from silents to talkies as it affects a successful leading man (Jean Dujardin) who staunchly refuses to adapt to the new process.

They've remained coy about their romance – in spite of being spotted mid-smooch – but Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen made their red carpet debut as a couple Wednesday at the Cannes International Film Festival.
"She's a genuinely lovely lady as well as being stunningly beautiful and very talented," Sheen, 42, told Entertainment Tonight Canada of McAdams, his costar in the Woody Allen-directed comedy Midnight in Paris, which is showing at the festival.
The actress, 34 – who was recently spotted wearing a ring on her wedding finger – isn't engaged to Sheen, but she recently talked to Elle about her hopes for a "fairy-tale romance."
