In 2011, Paranormal State star Ryan Buell had a hit show on A&E, a successful book and an array of new projects in the works. He wasn't feeling his best, but he blamed his production schedule for the constant fatigue. When his symptoms persisted months later, however, he sought medical attention. The diagnosis was devastating.
Buell had pancreatic cancer. He was 29 years old.
News of his illness broke last year, but the paranormal investigator has remained mostly quiet about his ordeal – until now.

How's this for a movie preview?
At an advance screening of Paranormal Activity 4 in New York City on Tuesday night, one of the directors asked the audience: "Who's ready to s––t their pants?"
Okay, so, the movie isn't that disturbing. But it is still quite scary, and four films into a franchise, that's an accomplishment in and of itself.
Warning: minor spoilers ahead ...

As a horror film star and self-proclaimed Halloween haunted-house lover, it may seem like it could take a lot to spook Paranormal Activity 2's Katie Featherston. But the actress, 28, admits it's her own work that gives her a case of the heebie-jeebies.
"The first time I saw Paranormal 2 was with an audience, and I was terrified," Featherston tells PEOPLE. "I can not watch either of the Paranormal films alone."
Recalling a particular experience with her films, Featherston still freaks herself out. "I tried once to watch Paranormal Activity 1 alone because I had a different version of it – a new cut," she explains. "And I said, 'Oh, I want to see what they changed.' And I put it in and got to the first knife scene and had to turn it off. I was like, 'No, no, no, no, no. I can't do this.'"
