Aaron Blaise knows the majesty of lions. A former Disney animator, Blaise worked on The Lion King, serving as the supervising animator for the younger version of Nala. And it's his profound respect for the species that comes through in digital art he made in tribute to Cecil, the Zimbabwean lion killed by an American hunter last month.

Admit it, you had an interspecies crush on Simba. It was hard not to! The Lion King hero was sensitive, troubled, adventurous and romantic and had a beautiful head of hair. The perfect man except for the whole, you know, lion thing.

It's the summer of 1994, emojis are an unknown entity, and Butterfinger BBs are plentiful. Sheryl Crow is spinning on your walkman, and life is good.

This revelation is just one of the many harsh but humorous truths dished out during the Honest Trailers assessment of The Lion King. Looking back at the 1994 animated classic with fresh eyes, it is a little strange to realize all of these African animals have British accents, or how, in the savannah, Simba would make a meal out of Timon and Pumbaa.
