Zac Efron: Having His Mom See His Love Scenes Is 'Awkward'

Stripping off his clothes to shoot love scenes with Taylor Schilling for The Lucky One was fine with Zac Efron – until he watched the movie with his mother, Starla.
"We saw the film together and I was kind of squirming," Efron, 24, told PEOPLE at Thursday's New York City Cinema Society screening of the movie.
"Even though she was a couple of seats down from me, I tried to duck out during those scenes because it was too embarrassing. Obviously I'm acting, but knowing that my mom and my family were watching is kind of awkward. There's really no way around it."

Banish your shame: Sexually objectifying Zac Efron is the entire point of The Lucky One.
The kid from High School Musical is all grown up (he's 24), so go ahead and ogle. That's professional advice, because the film has lovely views but not much else.
In this Nicholas Sparks adaptation, Efron plays Logan, a Marine who is saved when he picks up a photo in the debris after an Iraqi firefight, seconds before a mortar explodes where he had just been sitting. Deciding that the pictured woman is his lucky charm, he sets out to find her. She's Beth (Taylor Schilling), a Louisiana mom who hires Logan to help with her dog kennel business.

Zac Efron Wasn't Afraid to Film Sex Scenes for The Lucky One

Zac Efron sang and danced his way through High School Musical and lent his voice to The Lorax earlier this year – but the heartthrob is entering new territory with his latest film role, thanks to his steamy love scenes with costar Taylor Schilling in The Lucky One.
"From his past films, [director Scott Hicks] is incredible with capturing the love in those scenes. Everyone builds those scenes up," Efron, 24, told PEOPLE at Monday's Hollywood premiere of The Lucky One, based on the Nicholas Sparks novel.
"There is sort of a fear inherent in everyone else so me and Taylor weren't afraid at all."
