A day doesn't seem to go by when Lady Gaga doesn't raise eyebrows or turn heads. From her ever-inventive and wacky couture to her controversial onstage antics, she loves to incite conversation. But lately, all that attention-getting hasn't translated to chart-topping hits.

"Put your hands up – make 'em touch," Lady Gaga sings on her new single, "Applause."
The song, the first from her upcoming ARTPOP album, dropped a full week early after demos of the catchy tune leaked Monday morning.
"My new single 'Applause' is out today," the singer Tweeted, announcing the early release before updating her profile picture to the single's artwork.

Paws up, Little Monsters!
After a hip injury in February that derailed her Born This Way Ball Tour and confined her to a (24-karat gold-plated wheelchair), Lady Gaga is slowly making her way back into the spotlight.
The singer will take the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25, when she'll perform the new (and still untitled) single from her upcoming fourth studio album, ARTPOP.
Gaga had taken the stage briefly for a performance of the "Star Spangled Banner" at New York's Gay Pride Parade Kickoff Rally on June 28, but the VMA performance will mark Gaga's official return.

It's a somber week for Lady Gaga – and her Little Monsters.
Following Tuesday's Facebook announcement that she was "devastated and sad" because she couldn't walk and had to postpone several Born This Way Ball concerts, the pop star, 26, has officially canceled the remaining dates of her world tour.
"After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip," the singer's rep told PEOPLE Wednesday in a statement. "She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal."
