To avoid a conflict with Sunday Night Football, NBC moved the 2014 Emmy Awards telecast up a month, to August 25. But in swerving clear of the football juggernaut, the Emmys steered right into the lane of the landmark cultural occasion of late August: the MTV VMAs, scheduled for one day prior.
It got us thinking: What if we took things to their logical conclusion and handed MTV control of the Emmys, as well?
Using categories from both the VMAs and their summertime counterpart, the MTV Movie Awards, we've imagined what would happen if the cable network was in charge of handing out trophies for everything that's on TV, not just music videos.
Massive spoilers below!

Say, which shows are nominated at the Emmys this year?
You may be able to name a few, but we're betting you can't remember every single series nominated in the Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Comedy and Outstanding Miniseries categories this year.
So, we've built this infographic to test your TV knowledge. Can you get the names of all 18 shows just from one object or symbol? It's harder than it looks, so to help you out, we've listed each show's network underneath.
Happy guessing! (The answers are at the bottom, if you want to cheat.)

American Horror Story: Coven has given viewers cat fights galore, Jessica Lange's supreme side eye and Stevie Nicks cameos – but a surprise visit to Sesame Street for style inspiration? We didn't see that coming.

The witches of American Horror Story: Coven may prefer stabbing each other in the back, but Gabourey Sidibe reveals that, in real life, the cast members have one another's backs no matter what.
Sidibe was on Chelsea Lately Wednesday night to talk about a recent bar fight the AHS:C cast found themselves in during a night on the town in New Orleans. The whole thing started when a woman glitter-bombed Sarah Paulson, which led to a full-on brawl.

If you thought American Horror Story: Coven rocked before, well, just wait until Stevie Nicks lands in New Orleans.
The Fleetwood Mac legend will be bringing her own magic – and, presumably, plenty of beads and shawls – to the FX miniseries some time this season in an unknown role, show creator Ryan Murphy announced on Twitter.
Her guest-spot gig is excellent news for fans of the band – as well as star Lily Rabe, whose on-screen alter ego, necromancer Misty Day, is quite spellbound with Nicks.

There's a lot more to Twilight than Edward and Bella.
Jackson Rathbone's gilded smirk and arched eyebrow was secretly the best part of the hit vampire series. I mean, have you heard him say "Possibly" in Breaking Dawn? It's great! Anyway, he ate yogurt on YouTube this week (no, really!), poked a little fun at the franchise and proved that yes, Virginia, emo vampires do have a sense of humor.
Plus: Neil Patrick Harris and fiancé David Burtka could not be any cuter with their kids, Pete Wentz got his Miley on (sort of) and more of the most important random things online.
