Originally posted 10/23/2009 01:50PM

The American Music Awards are as smitten with American Idol as everyone else.

Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Daughtry have been added to the schedule of performers for the 37th annual awards, airing live Nov. 22 on ABC. They join fellow Idol alum Adam Lambert, who was announced earlier as a performer.

"American Idol continually produces great talent, and we are looking forward to hosting Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry and Adam. It's a great fit for the AMAs," said producer Larry Klein.

Other performers on the show, to be held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, will include Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez and the Black Eyed Peas.

Ellen DeGeneres already has her first fan as an American Idol judge – Kara DioGuardi.

"I think it's a genius decision," DioGuardi, the judge who joined the top-rated FOX show last season, said at the Entertainment Tonight/PEOPLE Emmy after-party. "I wish I had thought of it."

Mostly, DioGuardi said she's looking forward to the new dynamic on the show now that DeGeneres is replacing the recently departed Paula Abdul as the show's "nice" judge.

The season four runner-up’s new addition will join big brothers Caleb James, 13 months, and Aidan Michael, 4 this month.

"The rock triad will now be complete," Bice's rep jokes. "Watch out for the 'Brothers Bice' or ‘Bo Bice Brothers Band’ release later this year!"

Married for four years, Bice, 33, and his wife expect their new son on Jan. 31 – right around the time Idol returns for its ninth season.

Ellen DeGeneres is already receiving a rave review from the judges' panel at America's Got Talent, and it came only minutes after the announcement she'd be Paula Abdul's replacement on American Idol.

"She will be a breath of fresh air on that show, a complete breath of fresh air," Osbourne, 56, told PEOPLE Wednesday. "It's new blood. And [American Idol] needed something new to happen."

"I think if they had replaced Paula with another singer, Janet Jackson or J.Lo, it would have been too expected,” she said. "'Oh well, there we go, another singer.' And with Ellen, you've got someone who knows about entertaining, and everything that goes into it, which also speaks for the people."

As the dust settles on the shocking departure of Paula Abdul, 47, from next season's American Idol, now comes confirmation from Victoria Beckham's publicist that the former Posh Spice, 35, will make a "one-off appearance" as a guest judge on the top-rated FOX show, reports Britain's Sky News.

Just don't expect Beckham to take up a permanent perch next to judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi – as she reportedly doesn't wish to take time away from overseeing her fashion line.

Constantine Maroulis: I 'Opened the Door' for Future Idol Rockers

Originally posted 08/02/2009 03:25PM

American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis has been making his mark on Broadway since appearing on the hit FOX show's fourth season in 2005. He was recently nominated for a Tony for his role in the rock musical Rock of Ages and the actor-musician credits the reality competition for the chance it gave him.

"I was blessed – I was a finalist," he says. "I probably wouldn't be in this chair if I wouldn't have gone on the audition that day."

But, he says, there is something he'd do differently if he were able to appear on Idol again. "They had a hard time getting the support from artists and publishers to clear a lot of the material, so there were a lot of songs I wanted to do that I couldn't do," he says. "Stuff from U2, Aerosmith, anything Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi. That was the stuff I was really good at. If I could have done the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' kind of thing week after week, it would have been interesting to see how it would have worked out."

Daniel Bark, the 23-year-old accused of striking and killing American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen while allegedly fleeing police, is mounting a vigorous defense, his attorney tells PEOPLE.

"There will be a not guilty plea entered across the board for all of the complaints," says Freehold, N.J.-based lawyer Daniel Glassman, noting that no one has come forward as a witness to the hit-and-run.

"We don't have anything in regards to the mechanics of how this young woman was killed," Glassman adds. "There are a lot of unanswered questions regarding how the accident occurred."
