Anderson Cooper was mysteriously absent from Monday's taping of Anderson Cooper 360º. When his replacement, John Berman, read the news in his place, fans of the silver fox were despondent.

However, once his show finished airing, Cooper explained his absence, Tweeting, "I'll be back on air tomorrow. Had an appendicitis and had to have sudden surgery last night."

Last July when emerging R&B star Frank Ocean published an emotional letter detailing an early love affair with a man, his "coming out" story made headlines in the hip-hop world and beyond.

Now, the Grammy-nominated songwriter is being honored by GLAAD, the nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender media advocacy and anti-defamation organization.

Ocean is among the 120 nominees for the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, the organization announced early Wednesday morning. He is being recognized for his critically-lauded Channel Orange album.

Other musician nominees include Adam Lambert (for his album Tresspassing).

Anderson Cooper Giggles On-Air – Yes, Again

Clearly, it's not a party unless Anderson Cooper is there.

The usually sober-as-a-judge journalist, who broke character and had a giggling fit last summer while reporting on French actor Gérard Depardieu's going oui-oui in his seat on a Paris-to-Dublin flight, cracked up on-air again, this time while covering Dyngus Day for CNN's Anderson Cooper 360.

Dyngus Day? Well, that part is irrelevant, but it is a Polish-American tradition celebrating the end of Lent, as it occurs in Buffalo, N.Y.

The real news is Cooper's reaction. It seems to have started when the phrase "a tap from a pussy willow branch" is uttered.
