Last October, Big Brother winner Dick Donato came forward to PEOPLE with a very personal revelation: He is HIV positive.
The disclosure, which also aired on VH1's Couples Therapy, shocked fans who wondered why Donato had been removed from a previous season of Big Brother.
But Donato, 52, says that some good come out of his revelation, and many of his fans have been inspired to get tested and start practicing safer sex.
So 10 months after going public, how is daily life for Donato?

Even though he didn't take home the $500,000 prize, Frankie Grande won America's hearts on Big Brother.
His run on the reality competition's 16th season included hiding the secret that Ariana Grande is his sister, single-handedly winning a Battle of the Block when Caleb abandoned him and stabbing ally Zach Attack in the back when needed. Oh, and he threw a lot of glitter.
So what does he think of this season's house guests?
"I think Vanessa's the only one who's really playing the game," he tells PEOPLE of the poker champ from Las Vegas. "I think everyone is just kind of aimlessly throwing darts at a board and hoping that they stick. But I am looking forward to hopefully some more game play in the future and some big moves. We'll see what James does this week, I'm excited."
