George R.R. Martin Would Like to Remind Game of Thrones Fans the Show Was Once a Book Series

Originally posted 02/24/2015 01:10PM

[YOUTUBE "snm6qnezv0Q"] Did you know that HBO's Game of Thrones is based on a literary saga?

Kidding, kidding. But seriously, in his GoT DVD audio commentaries, author George R.R. Martin has a tendency to point out how a certain plot point went down "in the books."

One enterprising fan put together a supercut of every time Martin refers to "the books" during his commentaries. From season 1 to season 4, no "book" was left unturned.

Game of Thrones Blooper Reel: What's More Deadly Than a Dragon? Stairs, Apparently (VIDEO)

Originally posted 02/23/2015 02:50PM

[YOUTUBE "y6B2ssor0wQ"] Game of Thrones may be serious, but its actors are decidedly not.

We dare you not to laugh along with the stars of the HBO series in this newly released blooper reel, which highlights season 4's biggest flubs – and falls. Because, when it comes to Westeros, stairs are apparently more dangerous than any dragon ever will be.

Among the highlights? Gwendoline Christie's laugh, Ser Pounce's on-set antics (one word: diva!) and that time Pedro Pascal almost took his own head off before the Mountain (Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson) crushed it for him.

Conquer Westeros with This Game of Thrones Monopoly Board

Originally posted 02/17/2015 01:40PM

Because completing one game of Monopoly will take roughly as long as reading one of the Game of Thrones books, this seems like a logical pairing.

The game's locations have been updated with examples from the monolithic fantasy franchise, such as King's Landing, Winterfell and Castle Black. Meanwhile, players can choose from a white walker, direwolf, three-eyed raven, dragon egg, crown and, of course, the Iron Throne to use as pieces. Green houses have become villages and red hotels are now keeps.

The Mountain from Game of Thrones Just Broke a 1,000-Year-Old Viking Strongman Record (VIDEO)

Originally posted 02/04/2015 11:45AM

[YOUTUBE "JpUrXJNcS_8"] If you were in disbelief watching Gregor Clegane (a.k.a. The Mountain) crush a human skull in season 4 of Game of Thrones, we have now learned that the actor, Hafthór Júlíus Björnsson, could probably do the same in real life.

Icelandic-born Björnsson, 26, just broke a 1,000-year-old viking record.

A strongman competitor as well as an actor, Björnsson carried a 1,433-lb. log on his back for five steps. Check it out in the video above – it's truly something to behold.

Amanda Peet Didn't Think Game of Thrones Was a Good Idea (Also: Her Hubby's the Showrunner!)

Originally posted 01/28/2015 10:30AM

[YOUTUBE "249I4kxTBEU"] Not to cast aspersions on Amanda Peet's character, or anything, but she may not have the best judgment.

If it were up to her, Game of Thrones wouldn't have received a green light!

The actress, 43, has been married to David Benioff since 2006. He co-created GoT, now entering its fifth season, with D.B. Weiss – and Peet wasn't so sure that the fantasy series should have been adapted for television.
