With a handful of episodes left before the cast of How I Met Your Mother go their separate ways, Neil Patrick Harris acknowledges that it's a bittersweet time.
"We're saying the word 'last' a lot more than we ever did," he told PEOPLE on Wednesday during a Television Critics Association set visit. "We knew that it was going to come to an end, but we never really talked about the end, so this season has been filled with a lot of us saying, 'Oh.' "
As Harris and his castmates Cobie Smulders, Josh Radnor, Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan fielded questions from reporters, both of the actresses said, "You guys really want us to cry."

It's the baby news heard 'round the world: Kerry Washington is expecting her first child, and while we're excited for the actress, it leaves fans of Scandal scratching their heads about what Washington's bump means for Olivia Pope.
Producer Shonda Rimes has remained mum since Washington's October announcement about whether the pregnancy will be written into the show, but should she choose not to, there's plenty of past precedent to draw from on how to handle a star's changing shape, ranging from the subtle to the downright ridiculous.

There's another familiar face returning to How I Met Your Mother!
Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston will reprise his role as Ted Mosby's boss, Hammond Druthers, in an upcoming episode this season.
The actor, whose own AMC drama is set to conclude this weekend, previously appeared on the show in 2006 and 2007, where he served as Ted's superior at an architecture firm.
Though it remains to be seen in what capacity Ted (Josh Radnor) will have a run-in with his former foe, he is not the last guest star to cameo on the show for its final season.

Earlier this year, the audience finally met How I Met Your Mother's titular star, and on Monday's season nine premiere, one more person joined that elusive club – just not Ted himself.
Over the course of two back-to-back episodes, Ted's best friend Lily (Alyson Hannigan) met his dream woman on board a train headed to the fictional Farhampton, Long Island, where Robin (Cobie Smulders) and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) are set to wed. It marked the first major scenes for actress Cristin Milioti, who made her debut as the much-anticipated mother in last May's season finale. As the show progresses towards its series finale in 2014, the audience will continue to learn more about Ted's as-yet unnamed wife-to-be, but in case you missed it, here's what we learned on Monday:

Neil Patrick Harris and his fiancé David Burtka haven't specifically told their twins about their entertainment careers.
That said, Harris, 40, who is hosting Sunday's Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, says their professional paths are pretty apparent because they've given their nearly 3-year-old little ones a very hands-on experience.
"I don't have any reason to tell them what we do for a living," the How I Met Your Mother funnyman told PEOPLE on Wednesday at an Emmy preview. "They've come to set. They know the crew. They got to come to the Tony rehearsals and watch the Cinderella dancers with all of their finest gownery and do their dancing, which was cool."

Neil Patrick Harris admits that it took a while for him to adjust to being a dad to twins Harper and Gideon.
"The first year with them was complicated," he says in an interview with USA Weekend. "They were crying a lot."
But as the toddlers approach their third birthday in October, it's a whole different ball game.

Neil Patrick Harris has already lined up his next high-profile gig once the series finale of How I Met Your Mother airs later this year – he's Broadway-bound.
The singing and dancing triple threat, who hosted the Tony Awards for the fourth time on June 9 (to great reviews), is set to don a wig, dress and high heels for his role as a German transgender rock singer in spring 2014's first Broadway production of the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which features a book by John Cameron Mitchell and music and lyrics by Stephen Trask.
"I am simultaneously ecstatic and terrified to be stepping into Hedwig's high heels," Harris said in a statement.

Looks like Jason Segel is enjoying a summer romance.
The How I Met Your Mother star, whose one-year relationship with Michelle Williams ended in February, has been dating Bojana Novakovic, 31, for a few weeks, PEOPLE confirms.
"They hang out often," a source tells PEOPLE. "They have fun together and Jason seems to be really happy."
