It's a series with emotional landmines as potent as tarantula cocktails and crocodile-filled obstacle courses. And on Wednesday, NBC's I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! ends its three-week run when one star will be crowned the ultimate King, or Queen, of the Jungle.
Challenges notwithstanding, the celebrity survivor will also have to stomach the return of former contestants Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, who landed in Costa Rica on Tuesday, as well as Janice Dickinson and Daniel Baldwin, who are also set to return to the jungle.
Watching it all go down in fancy high heels has been co-host Myleene Klass, herself a runner-up of Britain's I'm a Celebrity… in 2006. "Where else are you going to see celebrities without their makeup, without their support network, without luxuries, just showing us who they really are?" Klass tells PEOPLE.

It turns out the jungle's not so bad after all.
Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt issued a statement Monday denying recent tales of torture and serious illness they supposedly faced while shooting I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! in Costa Rica.
"Many of these reports are false and inaccurate, including any reports of 'torture' on the show," their rep says. "What we can say at this time is that Heidi went to a hospital in San Jose, Costa Rica, Saturday evening because she was not feeling well. She has been released from the hospital and is doing well. The couple remains in Costa Rica."
"In addition," the statement continues, "it was reported the Pratts have fired their legal counsel. This is inaccurate."

In the wake of online reports about the hospitalization of Heidi Montag while shooting NBC's I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! in Costa Rica, conflicting details are emerging of how The Hills star is being treated on the reality show.
Stephanie Pratt, the younger sister of Montag's husband Spencer – who is enduring the Costa Rican jungle alongside Montag on the four-nights-a-week show – is claiming Montag's health was pushed to the absolute brink.
"Heidi was virtually on her deathbed," Pratt, 23, told PEOPLE Sunday at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS A Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival in Los Angeles. "She's never been sicker in her life. I can't believe NBC did that."

They tried to quit the jungle in Costa Rica three times, but newly undeterred Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt spent the night in the dreaded 'Lost Chamber' while waiting for the cast of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! to vote on their possible return.
The attention-starved pair thought they would be surrounded in the dark by creepy crawlies as they were in an earlier challenge, but this time around, "What we did was a far more interesting psychological experiment," says Paul Telegdy, NBC's executive vice president of alternative programming.
In scenes likely to be shown on Monday's episode, Speidi were tormented instead Thursday by the sound of an acorn dragged by a fishing pole along the floor of the chamber, and the feel of wind on their backs blown by a small tube. "When we cut the lights," Telegdy says, "We have them on infrared cameras, and all we can say is you see two sets of very terrified eyes, blinking, goggle-eyed, terror-struck! They prayed quite vigorously."

Guess jungle life isn't all it's cracked up to be. But not even helping charity could keep Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt from getting out of the NBC show I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here on the very first episode.
And now there's a surprise in store for remaining contestant Stephen Baldwin, 43, according to DailyFill.com – which reports that his older brother, Daniel Baldwin, is secretly in Costa Rica. Daniel, 48, is now poised to step in for Pratt, 25, who twice threatened to walk off during the premiere episode with his wife Montag, 22.
A source also tells the site that Holly Montag has just been put on a plane to Costa Rica to fill in for Heidi – reportedly promising producers that she'll hang in there longer than her wimpy sister.
The show's rep at NBC could not be reached for comment. Reps for Heidi and Spencer also could not be reached.
