When TV Goes on Holiday: The Hottest Small-Screen Vacation Spots, by the Numbers

Originally posted 08/12/2015 05:00PM

It seems like every time our favorite TV characters take a vacation, they end up in one of three main destinations: Hawaii, Paris or Disney World.

It makes sense that these would be such popular destinations – after all; they're familiar, easy to film in and ripe for sitcom hijinks. And really, who doesn't want to hang with Mickey and Minnie or sunbathe in the tropics or even take a romantic stroll along the Seine?

Since all three of these locations seemed to entice our favorite shows over and over again, we couldn't help but wonder which other exotic destinations are statistically more likely to attract our favorite TV shows. Since we never pass up an excuse to binge watch Friends and Saved by the Bell, we dug through some classic shows from the TV archives and did a little math. You'll notice that some shows managed to rack up some serious frequent flier miles during their runs!

Nate Richert: Harvey from Sabrina, the Teenage Witch Is Now a Musician

Originally posted 12/10/2014 11:45AM

Remember Nate Richert from Sabrina, the Teenage Witch?

He famously played Melissa Joan Hart's onscreen sweetheart – the lovable, dependable Harvey Kinkle – in the '90s series. Besides being the boy-next-door cutie, he also spent quality time (when he wasn't unwittingly under a spell!) with Sabrina's beloved cat, Salem, and who doesn't love a guy with a soft spot for furry felines.

Fast-forward to over a decade since the series has ended, and Richert is still in show business – but has taken on a whole new role.

He is still capable of melting hearts, but this time as a musician. Check out his recently published video.

TGIF Turns 25: Looking Back at the Family-Friendly Sitcoms That Defined '90s TV

Originally posted 09/19/2014 12:10PM

If you were a child or a parent during the early '90s, there's a good chance that ABC's TGIF lineup graced your TV set. Remember TGIF? A two-hour block of family-friendly comedies that tried to make it seem fun staying in on Friday nights?

It officially debuted 25 years ago this month – on Sept. 22, 1989, with a lineup that included Perfect Strangers, Family Matters, Full House and Just the Ten of Us. And notably, it debuted four years before that other landmark '90s TV block, Must See TV.

Need a Vacation? Take It Online with Your Favorite Classic Sitcoms!

Originally posted 07/28/2014 02:55PM

Summer means two things for most Americans: A family trip and a lack of decent TV. However, if you're currently stuck at home, wishing you could find something better to watch, we've got an easy, free solution. You can just ride along with your favorite sitcom of choice!

Remember when sitcoms regularly had group vacations, played out over a series of episodes or even over two-hour movie events?

Sure, Modern Family still does an "away" adventure about once per season, but there was a time when a vacation episode was a full-fledged TV event. Shows you loved would ditch the multi-camera set-up and studio lighting for foreign locales and – gasp! – outside scenes that were actually filmed outside.

Some of these TV adventures happen to be viewable online, and we've collected all the ones we could find.

Bon voyage!
